Iggy to Minny
I posted this on the trade board, but I thought I'd post it here just to see some reactions.
Philly out:Iggy
Minny out: Beasley, Ellington, Koufus, Memphis 1st
As we know, we've had some people wanting to see Iggy here and others not at all...But we do know that the trade deadline may be the last time we can capitilize on our capspace. Philly has Jodie Meeks starting and he's really their only 2 guard, and Ellington will probably be the short stick once Webster returns, and Philly has crappy centers..
Thoughts?

I'd like Beasley next to Iggy. And if they're trading Iggy for salary relief, we should be able to get him without sending Supercool.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I figured that they would want at least someone worth hanging onto if they are trading Iggy...Plus I'm still unsure if Beas can really play the 3 and defend the 3...Also I believe SF is Iggy's best position.

this would be a costly lateral move.
we have picks and youth with "upside" to deal, why give up Beasley?

Beasley hasn't reached his potential yet, and he's already better than Iggy. Plus we throw in other assets besides? Sorry, but this is a horrible trade.

I'd do it. I don't think people realize how much this could help our defense. Heres some interesting thoughts from Hollinger on AI's defense:
Iguodala is one of the most underrated players in the league. He’s not a great shooter or scorer, which muddies the first impression, but he’s consistent, durable, and fills out the box score. He also is one of the few stars who guards the opponent’s best player every night.
That’s probably the first place to start with Iguodala — he’s an All-Defense caliber player who can guard wings of just about any size and shape, and this fact has mostly slipped under the radar. Last season the Sixers gave up 7.4 points per 100 possessions fewer with him on the court according to 82games.com. Moreover, his ability to defend without fouling was phenomenal — only four shooting guards beat his rate of 1.86 personals per 40 minutes.

The closest thing Iggy's had to a true point guard is Andre Miller, and those were the three best years of his career. Just think about what he could do with Rubio.
The biggest gripes we've had on Beasley are his defense and foul trouble. Look at his performance in Turkey for the kind of defensive impact he can have on a team. When was the last time we had a defensive presence on the perimeter like that? In the past 4+ seasons, Iguodala has fouled out of just 1 of his 338 games played dating back to the beginning of the 2006-2007 season.
Many people freak out about the contract. But honestly, Beasley has a good chance to get that much (or more) when his contract is up. I'd rather pay my 12 million to a guy who can stay healthy, stay out of trouble, and plays defense.
People talk about his age like he's freakin' Methuselah. He's 26 years old. Not even a year older than LeBron. Would you guys oppose to adding LeBron because he's too old to fit with our core?

Re: Iggy to Minny
Are we really waiting for Prince Charming to come to our team? Iggy is the closest thing to top tier as we're gonna get imo.

I think with our group of guys including Rubio, I think we are a scary team with Iggy. If it doesn't workout for us in a few years, trade him.

Re: Iggy to Minny
I see what you're saying about defense. Igoudala is a great perimeter defender, much better than Beasley at this point. Though, you can say the same thing about Beasley when it comes to offense. How long have we been praying for a dominant scorer on this team?
I suppose it's debatable who is the better player. Add in the fact that Beasley is younger and cheaper. Then it's no contest.

Looks like Wes would be an alternative to trade. The only problem I see then would be if we can afford Iggy plus extended contracts of Love and Beasley. Ridnour & Pek would have to be dumped for capspace for sure. Cheap Darko contract helps for sure and rookie Rubio deal as well.

We arent winning with Iggy anyways, so I'd just like to wait and see if beasley improves his defense since he is younger and I think has a much higher ceiling. It does seem possible, especially since he is playing and defending an entirely new position that he is really not used to.

People always say we want your best player, so I decided that you can have everyone except our best player, our second best player, and our third best player. I feel the same way in this case. In order to even discuss this trade, we already must rule out Rubio, Love, and Beasley. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume they don't want anything to do with that.

Beasley was never a dymamic defensive player before the position switch either though...
