Re: Shannon Brown
Redick is a whole separate class of NBA player than Brown. Redick is hell of a lot more savvy than Brown. He is along the lines of a Bell or Barnes.

Re: Shannon Brown
Yeah, agreed. Redick is superior in just about every way. The guys is known for being a great shooter, but over the past few seasons his defense and composure in the playoffs is what really grabbed my attention. He's one of the guys I wanted to pursue in the off-season, but I knew we didn't have much of a shot at him because the Magic were very intent on keeping him.

Re: Shannon Brown
Yeah Semi, i wanted Reddick too but we didn't try. Its not like they paid him that much though, Blake money and he coulda ran point in our system for stretches. Oh well...
Thing about Shannon is that yeah the shooting was nice in the beginning, but that was because Pau and LO were playing the whole game and anchoring the paint and we were playing our weak schedule. They just came in and fired away and we usually already had a lead because Pau, Kobe, and LO started off so well. Now that the the bigs have slowed a bit and the rotations are different, leads slimmer, they are just acting like chuckers. Blake is a little timid and Brown is a little too trigger happy and they don't work real great together. Brown is nice when we have leads, are running, or are on a run... he can be energetic and exciting, but he's just not heady when things are slowed down, not a good thing for a playoff run (granted at that point his minutes go down)
I'm all for more MB at the 2, I think he plays way better off the ball, is a passer and gets inside more, rebounds better, defends better, and its not like his shot is a liability. Its not perfect but he'll hit enough. Hell I wouldn't even mind seeing Barnes,Kobe, Ron all in at once sometimes with either Barnes or LO bringing the ball up ala his GS days, pack the paint and use the zone a little bit to stop some of these quick PGs. Barnes and Kobe at the top and Ron and LO on the wings with Drew/Pau in the middle could be a deadly zone, or even more 3-2 style if Pau and Drew are in. Phil just needs to wake up and try some new stuff for a while, if nothing else just to put stuff out there that other teams will need to think about.
I'm on the less Brown more Barnes bandwagon for sure. Hell, I wouldn't mind if we sold him high for another big and just called up EBanks...

Re: Shannon Brown
man some of you guys are hella fickled......I for one am hardly a "player fan" but I respect Brown and his ability to "add" to his game over the summer. Its not like he got 15mill for 3yrs like a certain scrub and came back and completely FAILED miserably for the next 3yrs after signing the contract. Dude barely got 5mill for 2 yrs and he still getting better. He's not the sharpest tool ever but I dont see where that IQ has gotten Walton other then a bloated lenghtly contract that we can't trade for another 2 yrs. For some to say "i rather have Sasha" I guess having him gone for the past 2-3 weeks or so have made you forget the last 2 odd seasons of brickfest, foul prone, getting tourched on a regular basis that is Sasha, while Brown is having a few bad games here and there all of a sudden he is the worse thing on this team

how so? Vujabrick got 2+ season to suck all the meanwhile getting $5mill/yr and Brown can only get a strtech of bad games and all of a sudden he is the end all and be all of Laker woes?

Re: Shannon Brown
We're not but at the same time the issue is not with his consistency. The issue is with his lack of fundamentals. You can't suddenly start dribbling well in your 5th season in the league.

well he wans't a good 3pt shooter either but he suddenly was at the beginning of the season, dude has to try an expand his game, can't jsut be a spot of shooter like a certain scrub. He still learning and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Re: Shannon Brown
LApwnd has a point about this ridiculous sasha talk. people have some really short memories when it comes to sasha's play the last 2 seasons.

Re: Shannon Brown
The Bulls gave Reddick a 3 year 20 mil offer which the Magic matched. It was impossible for the Lakers to field such an offer with the MLE.

luke has been riddled with injuries, that can't be helped.

you seriously going to play the injury card with Luke? Dude had back problems all year long playing like 5 min a gm, can't be helped but certainly not going to change his game, prior to all his injury issue he sucked the season where he "voluntarily" went to the bench in favor of Ariza starting.
