What about the Knicks? Aside from not having the pieces, there's something else now that will hurt their chances. This is Amar'e Stoudemire's team and no one likes that more than Stoudemire.

Out in Phoenix, before he laid waste to the Suns on Friday night, Stoudemire said the Knicks don't need a major piece.

"We don't really need much," he said.

Sounds like he's definitely not in favor adding a player whom he'd have to suddenly compete with for touches and shots.

This means the team is ready to compete now not years from now.

This is something I have had in the back of my mind honestly. Always wrote it off because of their friendship. But its something I have thought about.

On the flipside, he could be hinting to Melo...come during FA so we don't lose any major pieces and we're right there as a major contender.

I highly doubt Amar'e doesn't want Melo on the team.

Oh, cool, Isola takes a quote from Amar'e showing confidence in his teammates and turns it into Amar'e not wanting to share the spotlight with Melo. Gotta love the NY media. Yeah, Frank, that's what it sounds like...to you.

This is from Mitch Lawrence, not Isola.

Same difference...again, all I take from quote is that Amar'e has confidence in his teammates. The inference comes from the writer, injecting his own opinion. Yes, Lawrence is an opinion writer, but, he's decided to make the call on how the quote should be taken. This team is playing and improving on a week-by-week basis. Why wouldn't he believe this team can be successful? Instead, Lawrence has determined Amar'e has an ulterior motive. I've grown tired of the sports media in this area in all sports attempting to dictate the terms of the conversation. It goes on regarding every franchise. Remember, the Knicks were one of the failures of the off-season, right?

Nets down 20+ at home against Milwaukee. I feel like the media is taking crazy pills with these nets rumors.

The Nets seem to be affected by the trade rumors........ it's been affecting them for about 2 seasons now.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I think Lopez is mailing in. He does not want to be the second banana to Melo so he makes sure Melo would not be interested in playing with him.

Agreed. You know, one thing that I keep thinking about is how his sister's death has affected him. I've had a close friend died last year and it really puts things in perspective about your own life. Makes you evaluate your own life and figure out what's important to you and say, to hell with the rest, life is too short. I am not saying that would help or hurt the Knicks' position but I really think it will affect his decision. I think whatever he does, it will be what he wants, no regrets.

That means the Knicks, in the city he wants and playing with his friend. It doesn't get better than that for a pro athlete, money aside.

I like how they undercut possible Soriano to the Yanks talk by saying they would not give up a 1st round pick for any remaining free agent. In your eye Boras. Can't use us to drive up the price.

Its obvious Nets haven't spoken to Nets players to guage extentions. This is an ugly mess. Im expecting a Melo spazz out soon.
