Please explain? How can whether Melo signs a contract extension or not be out of his hands? This makes absolutely no sense.
It is only, and
completely in Melo's hands.
If NYK had some pieces to trade that would make the rebuilding process little to no time at all then he would be with the Knicks. They're getting a stud in Favors, a serviceable PG in Harris and two 1st rounders thats the best deal they're going to get. Not all that high on Gallinari and obviously Denver isn't either, you're not willing to trade Chandler, and yeah Landry Fields is a deal breaker...... You're not even willing to attempt to trade up to Melo's value thats why I'm sure Denver has cut ties with you leaving NJ his only destination.
I don't think anyone disagrees that the Nets offer is better than the Knicks offer in terms of materials.
The argument is that if Melo only wants to go to the Knicks, it
doesn't matter that the Nets offer is better, because nobody can force him to sign a contract extension with a team he doesn't want to.
2) Your little revival with Stoudemire isn't going to last long those knees will give in and you'll be stuck eating his fat contract I hope you enjoy. The Nets have a future all star whom can give them 10+ yrs of production. While the Knicks have the uncertainty of whether or not Amare's knees will hold up for the next 3-5 yrs.
Whether or not Amares knee is going to hold up, neither you, nor me, or anyone else knows. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. That being said - it seems pretty clear that the next CBA will contain a provision to allow teams to exempt the salary cap space for injured players more easily, so this is quite possibly not an issue.
As for Knicks versus the Nets; even if you do get Melo, you're still going to be second rate, you're still going to be playing in front of half empty arenas, you're still going to be in Newark, NJ. And even when (or rather
if) the team moves to Brooklyn, you're at best going to have the status of Mets compared to the Yankees.
I believe the reason why his mind has changed is because of Leon Rose. He's pulling the strings behind this trade basically, and I'm sure that he's sold Melo on that if Melo goes to NJ he can get him Chris Paul. First James, now Melo it looks like you Knick fans have once again got your hopes up for nothing. Enjoy your future.
It's funny how someone who apparently supports a team that 1) has a .270 record and 2) is just waiting to move away from his location is making fun of another team's future.
Must be great to have a crystal ball that tells you everything about how amazing the Nets' future is going to be though.
And good job making fun of Lebron turning down Knicks, as if the Nets weren't down on their knees, trying to get him to sign.
