The Leafs defence is not the problem when you chart the percentage of shots given up--Raycroft was the problem and you know it. And besides, half the team's defence was out with injuries half the year anyway"
"I'll take goaltending, grit and defence for 500, Alex. JFJ is building like Anaheim is--without having to gut the team first"

Way to take some quotes out of context.
My point at that time was arguing what JFJ was doing was the right strategy; not saying that it couldn't have a negative result.
You're obviously too young to know the difference, bu sometimes in life you do the right things and they don't go the way you want.
Ottawa's model is great if youwant to suck for 10 years first.
If they don't win the cup in the next few years all they were were a flash in the pan pansy team that didn't win jack.
There is no guarantee it'll work either.
He spent the money on a Stanley Cup winning D man. (Didn't work)
Wrapped up perhaps the best forward in free agency (Looks pretty good)
Picked up an elite level goalie (looks excellent to me)
Kept most of the talent he drafted (outside of a guy who's in the A, just like Pogge) (who knows yet)
Wrapped up two of the best offensive denfensmen in hockey (Looks bad right now)
Wrapped up a fabulous two way forward who is hurt right now (Tucker, jury is still out).
My point is, he tried to go at it the right way, and it's not looking good ight now.
But no team is as bad as they look when they are bad, or as good as they look when they are good.
We'll see what happens when Maurice is not forced to play (penalty a minute) forwards half the game when he gets Wellwood, Tucker and Bell back playing regular minutes.
Stralman already has improved the team D. I'll be laughing even harder when your favorite team Ottawa gets dumped first round again.
Like you said, it's early. Don't start crowing yet, man.
