Anyway I predict there will be "huge" Carmelo news tonight after the game against Miami.

Why after tyonight? Just because that bozo Lebron is playing and there is more media hype. Don't get me wrong. I HOPE YOUR RIGHT. But I don't know, this seems like it will continue to run it's course taking longer than sooner.

Maybe I'm reaching for the moon here but if Melo hasn't figured it out by now, he will realize tonight that if he goes to the Nets he will only get knocked out by the heat every year in the first round as an 8th seed. He will then finally tell the Nets to fu*k off and everything will be back to square one.

I am more concerned with Denver finally giving in to giving us Melo in a fair trade.

the only upside to this trade is that you'll be going to the minny board.

if mike is never going to play him enough what does it matter what his potential is ? he's not going to reach it here, right ?

Simmons made several good points until the second half of the column got deleted and replaced by a Blake Griffin love letter.

+1

It's kind of funny how he says that the Nets will always be 2nd in NYC (I agree), but then suggests Melo should go the Clips, who will always be overshadowed by the Lakers. The only difference is that, unlike the Nets, the Clippers have a cheap owner.

Not if he cant get on the court. Im sure D'Antoni has a reason for not playing him and Im sick and tired of giving spoiled mentally challenged players the benefit of the doubt. Now why keep a player who cant get on the court for us and not take a chance to draft a player that potentially could be a contributor for the team. Imagine how much better we would be if we could find another Chandler/Fields type of player with that pick instead of giving AR all that time...

I don't understand this point. Are you saying that a writer should always agree with the Knicks every time or criticize the Knicks every time? We don't have to agree with him, but he's entitled to have one opinion on Jennings and then a completely unrelated opinion on Melo.

I'm not a fortune teller, i don't know what can happen from here till 2013 (when randolph's QO comes up) but i'd rather pay potential 3 million dollars for another season than to trade him for what's most likely a low impact first round pick.

There is an article on realgm mentioning Kirenlenko saying that he plans on playing in Europe if there is a lockout..are there a lot of nba players that could follow him? is it prohibited in most contract which is what I would expect?...and hey, maybe Melo should just become a free agent this summer and play in Europe next season until the lockout is complete haha

Funny thing is he's a front running Clippers fan. Dude flip-slops between them and Boston like a dime trick. He got married moved out to L.A. and jumped on the bandwagon until Boston made the trade for K.G. he was slobbin hard on the Clippers when they made the playoffs in 2005-2006 season. I don't see how anyone takes him seriously.

People take him seriously because he knows basketball.

I think you got it all wrong. What you said has no truth in it. Read his book. There is more than Dad yada yada yada in it.

And I find it funny when some people (you seem to be one of those) take positions on writers with the kind of stuff you mentioned. Simmons makes sense. When he wrote about Jennings, he had a point (though I disagreed). When he talks about how LBJ should have come to NY if not stay in Cleveland or Melo should come to NY, he still has a point. We are not talking about a guy who comes up with idiotic reports/predictions or someone who simply talks of his arse trying to convince people how NY is the worst choice for any given athlete.

kingOfqueens wrote:Looking at it from denvers point of view, if they truly do not like our package of Gallo, 1st pick from AR trade (which i think is lottery protected from Min?) and curry (which in their point of view is a pretty lowball offer for their franchise player) wouldn't they just hold out til the end of the season to see if there are other offers. They can always revisit our trade at the end of the season, there's no incentive for them to do this trade before the deadline. At the very least theyd get a TPE and the 1st round pick, which for them is fine because they don't care for gallo, and would probably not extend him next season for the money he'd want. This is all assuming that Melo is going to want that extension rather than walk away and take his chances with the new CBA.

The only way Carmelo gets traded after the deadline for anything of value is if accepts the final year of his offer, and then Denver trades him.

Note, we wouldn't have Curry's deal to send back. So we'd have to send enough salary back to make it fit under the cap (Gallo would work). This scenario seems highly unlikely.

It is difficult, but not impossible. As long as Turiaf picks up his option, we can make a deal like Turiaf/Gallo/AR by renouncing right to MLE and Curry. Or we can add Mozgov and Walker to the package and keep MLE (if it still exists).

but i think it's obviously true. mike says moz is still in the plans. there's stories about how hard rautins works. everybody else including brick mason has been given a chance. ar is just not really in the plans here.
