agreed, but to stay on topic, regardless of what type of player Darko becomes, he seems to be picking up a LOT of ticky tack fouls.

Re: Darko's foul trouble/poor rebounding
Darko gets alot of his fouls when he gets too aggressive while trying to block shots and playing pick'n'roll defense. He needs just to make people shoot over his outstretched arms and not block every shot. And he needs to be smarter while guarding smaller guys out on the perimeter, they often tend to run right at him and Darko gets whistled, he needs to move his feet better and be smarter and too aggresive.

I'd be more concerned about his scoring. He makes less than a point a shot... why is he shooting it so much?

Re: Darko's foul trouble/poor rebounding
his offense was pretty frustrating tonight, he pussy foots it around the rim too much, he's got the size to bring the pain but he's always doing those 1 handed imminent brick putback attempts and doing these little flip shots. He's got too much strength and agility to play like that

Still, no fouls and a double-double tonight. Has that ever happened with Darko before?

AGREED!
You'd think that one of these days he's going to realize that he is bigger and stronger than 95% of the league, and start bullying it to the rim some. He could be drawing so many fouls...

Re: Darko's foul trouble/poor rebounding
I dont think he is a poor rebounder, he is averige rebounder in defence and above averige in offence...also he tips his teammates for rebounds more than others... I would love the see him more agressive for rebounds tho.
Foul trouble is a problem sometime, especially when he earns 2 or more quick fouls. I think there is several reasons for that but main two are.
His defensive mentality (You can't score over me), so he is overagressive sometime in the defence.
Nobody protect the rim except Darko, so he is more likely to pick up fouls. Love is great rebounder/and offencive player but let's face is he is bad in defence.
Also he have some iracional fouls sometime.

Re: Darko's foul trouble/poor rebounding
I would give Darko 34-36 minutes a game, and ~40 when he is hot and not in foul trouble.
Darko games when he plays more than 30 minutes.
14 games
14pts 11rebounds 2ass 2bls 33m
11pts 10rebounds 2ass 2stl 5bls 32m

14.79pts 8.21 rebounds 2.71ass 0.79stl 3.14 bls in 34.29 minutes.
93/188 49.47% FG

45 PF 3.2 per game.
Pretty good if you asked me.

Put that up to about 12 and yeah, same.
Darko's an integral part of the team for me, he's one of, if not our most important players on our roster. He gives us so much when on the court, mainly defensively that we lack so so much. I think he's the only guy on our roster average over 1 block for christ sake.
Anyways, back to the OP, though he does give up some silly fouls I think a lot of it is just being unlucky and just very clever Basketball play. Or the refs just being far, far too strict when it comes to contact. The slightest brush off a player and you get whistled these days which isn't great. Darko's always in and around the rim and our only good shot blocker so he's bound to get all these calls against him when he's the only guy contesting. Hence why K-Love hardly gets foul calls, he rarely contests the way Darko does.
As for rebounding, well basically what everyone's already said. Love gobbles up all the defensive boards. With Darko being the one most aggressive contest wise he's going to be out of position for the rebound too thus allowing Love to get them. I'm not entirely bothered about his rebounding. It's the silly TO's and foul call's that bother me.
I'd be over the moon for Darko to average 12 ppg, 7 rpg, 2 blocks and 2 assists. Klomp summed it up perfectly, Darko's stats are never gonna' jump out the paper and he doesn't care that much about it. He gives us far, far more than stats.
Very good post.
Darko is a team player first, he doesent care if he get the rebound, it is matter that wolves grab it.
I cant wait to see him shooting some jump shot, only one this season is against Dunkan with fade away, I really dont understand why he not shot any other shot except hook.

That was what its been posted all week here. Mainly because of the perimeter and less becuase of Love IMO. But if you notice the Wizards game Darko had 0 fouls in the first quorter but the perimeter players had 5 fouls early on (wes Johnson two) and they were fouls on penetrations. He managed on his own as well not going to block but just trying to alter shots.
On the other hand since he had no fouls and MGee had 3 early on he should go harder on the second half.
So that was a good adjustment for Minnesota.

I heard somewhere something like that hook shot is his security blanket... and I must agree with that. That is his shot in which he is confident. Also all of his career Darko had limited minutes and inconsistent minutes. So he never had a chance to develop his game propertly, and see what he can really do.
Its really shame that he play more diverse when he was a kid and a prospect than now.
Just compare him 5+ years ago and now. This is when he played for SCG national team in Europe.
16.2 pts, 9.3 rbs, 2.83 bs, 1.9 ass

He was one of top 3 players of that entire competition (I think only Dirk was better in general). After that I was thinking they will give him more chance to play, but nothing like nobody watched that.

He need more playing time, and to be more involved in the game offensivly and he will give you more. That is just the way he plays.

@Ledeni
I was watch that games live
Years off none playing can do serious damage. But it is good that he isnt totaly ruined, he will be good such as he predicted.
