Z-Bo is obviously not in the future plans of Memphis. Might as well see what Arthur can do full time. As a Grizzly season ticket holder, I want Monta Ellis. These next 3 years will be the prime of his career. He can either replace Mayo. or more prudently, replace Conley who is not a better PG. Monta's understanding of pace and his ability to run the pick n roll as both a passer/scorer has improved by leaps and bounds in just one season. He's not Chris Paul by any means, but he's too talented a scorer and playmaker to pass on at 11M for the next few years.

I think if the Grizzlies proposed that to GS, the teams would no longer be on speaking terms.

GS might do it for the salary dump. Give them the cap flexibility once they also dump Beans to build around Curry(a mistake IMO) Monta can be had and he fits so well with the Griz show(also making my season tickets much more intriguing.)

Just my opinion but I think Randolph is more key to the future of the Grizzlies than OJ Mayo. He is in his groove now and on pace to the same season as last year that placed him on the allstar team. Between him and Rudy Gay they carry this team, especially with Mayo and Gasol having average seasons.

As for rapsobsessed7's latest incarnation, while Dorsey has been playing quite well lately isn't he an expiring contract? I wouldn't pay a premium just to have Watson as Conley's backup. So we're talking about two low draft picks for Thabeet. I think they can get more value than that.

As you probably know, there's a lot of talk on the Wolves board about acquiring OJ Mayo. It seems there's consensus that he could play two-guard and back-up minutes running the point (due to our hybrid-triangle-suck system).

What would it take?

I'll leave it at that.

I've never heard of any rumors or sources that Minny is targetting on Mayo. First of all, Wolves doen't need Mayo, they have plenty of guards plus possibly Rubio in the comming year. What they have to do as the first thing in the morning is firing Rambis not acquiring any other players.

And Griz might want nobody from Wolves except Kevin Love

I'd take Martell Webster IF I had to pick someone from the T'Wolves (since Love and Beasley are untouchables).

Anyways, fellow Grizz fans what about Channing Frye?

Image

Yes Frye is soft and overpaid, but he would be a solid back up behind Gasol and Z-Bo. Gasol and Z-Bo can "hide" his weakness as a rebounder while Frye spaces the floor. If/when Z-Bo leaves next summer, a Gasol-Frye-Arthur front line is still decent.

A swap of Frye for Thabeet works. Grizz can also throw in Sam Young.

I would rather have Ryan Anderson than Frye.

And I agree that Webster might work as a sixth man at both shooting guard and small forward. But not for Mayo straight across.

Pho: Out Lopez
In Jeff Green and rights to Pleiss/Pick

Memphis: Out Marc Gasol
In Lopez and Cole Aldrich + clippers pick?

Okc Out Jeff Green and Cole Aldrich +assets
In Marc Gasol

Would you accept ? You get two young and cheap centers who fit nicely next to Zach and another nice asset. Besides Gasol is a(restricted) free agent who might get overpaid this summer, not good for a franchise in red numbers.

I watched the Pacers/Sixers game last night. Two players jumped out at me as being the kind that I think Memphis could really use. Brandon Rush and Jeff Foster don't get on any highlight reels, or stand out in the box scores, but boy do they play hard defense while also doing the little things to try and make their teamates get better looks on offense.

I'll probably get some criticism for saying it but I think Rush would do a better job than Mayo as far as putting the Grizzlies in a position to win games. I also think Foster, as backup at both center and power forward would compliment both Randolph and Gasol, depending on the situation.

But I have no idea what it would take to get them both in a trade. I imagine Indianna likes them both as well.

I also watched the Wizards/Kings game. Jason Thompson is a guy that just can't seem to get a break lately. He got called for some questionable fouls and got a bad technical called when he barely did a thing. As another combo power forward/center, he could be an upgrade over Arthur and Thabeet off the bench in my opinion. Thompson has been shuffled down the ladder with Cousins and Dalembert coming in but he played quite well last year I thought and might just need a change to regain his game.

Anyways, I'm kind of snowed in and just thought I would throw some things out there to think about for the needed upgrade to the Grizzlies bench.

Well if OJ keeps playing the way he has for most of the season, then you're right.
As for Thompson, I don't really see it. He occasionally has a decent game but I still like Arthur. I'm not even going to comment on Thabeet.

Cleveland Trades: Trade Exception, 2013 1st Round Pick (Miami) and $3 Million Cash
Cleveland Receives: Hasheem Thabeet, and 2012 1st Round Pick (Memphis)
Memphis Trades: Hasheem Thabeet, and 2012 1st Round Pick (Memphis)
Memphis Receives: Exception, 2013 1st Round Pick (Miami) and $3 Million Cash

Reasons:
o Cleveland Cavaliers: Take a shot at a young center that has all of the physical tools to be a viable player in this league. Also acquire a higher draft pick in the deap 2012 draft class.
o Memphis Grizzlies: Significant financial relief. Gain a trade exception they could potentially use but likely will let expire. Get $3 Million in Cash. Give up a future 1st but acquire a lower 1st rounder so not too big of a loss.

Awful - had the Grizz been that interested in just saving cash, they wouldn't have exercised his contract for next season.

What do you think you guys would want in a 3 way deal with NY and DEN. Primarily, Melo would go to NY, OJ Mayo goes to Denver and Wilson Chandler would go to Memphis. There would probably be some draft picks thrown around to sweeten the deal for Den, but what about u guys?

In a word - Fields or bust. Not a whole lot else on either roster that's worth the while for the Grizz. Were I working in the Grizz front office, I'd say either send Fields to Memphis in any deal including Mayo, or go Cromartie yourself.

And any way about it, Memphis included or not, if Fields is the holdup to the Knicks landing Melo...

Gibson and Arthur aren't all that different. Take the names away, and you'd have a hard time telling their numbers apart. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see them paired together, but including DA to get Taj back - meh.

yeah, I'd pass then. If it took WC+Fields to land Mayo, I doubt this deal makes it off the ground
