I agree. I am also starting to think Leon Rose wants Melo to sign the extension so he can get his 10 percent, worse than Melo wants to sign the extension.

Of course they are going to say that. They are taking a lot of bad press recently. Everyone can see through them though, they want him in NJ.

exactly. that's nonsense. They have been pushing him towards the nets while scheming, manipulating, lying about everything Knicks related.

to me, the most surprising part about all this is how easily melo is letting himself be used and lied to. I mean youre telling me that every NBA fan with half a brain can see through their agendas, but melo himself, who has them right under his nose, can't?

Why can't Melo just save DEN/NJ thei time and say "doesn't matter what the trade is, i ain going to NJ"...Why can't he say this?

Is this his fallback plan? Does he have an interest there?

Maybe, just maybe, he doesn't actually feel that way eh?

I would love to have Melo on this team, but giving up too much to do so does not make sense to me. If he wants to be a Knick he will be. If he wants to be a Net good luck in Brooklyn.

My question would be if they manage to pull off this three team trade is NJ a better team than us?

Knicker23 wrote:You'd think they'd consult with the guy that needs to sign off on the deal before letting it drag out for so long. . I don't think Melo has 'okay-ed' it, but it seems like he certainly hasn't said 'no' - though you never know. .

Regardless, if the Nets wanted to get the most from the Knicks, now would be the time to do it..we'd probably be most willing to give things up....certainly if this falls through we'll be the ones making the decisions.

Here's what I don't understand. Melo said he wants to go to a winning situation. He also said he doesn't want to go to a "gutted" team,(which is exactly what will happen with the Nets to get him), while still getting paid. None of those things would fit his criteria if he goes there. So my question is why would he even entertain signing an extension with them? Is he starting to cave in? If so, Donnie better give Denver Gallo, Wil, and Fields because you can always find role players, but it's hard to find all-star caliber players. Get 'er done Donnie, or get out of NY!!!

It's 90 to 95 per cent done, a source tells Fred Kerber. So optimistic are the Nets, he writes, that the team has a schedule that it hopes will put Carmelo Anthony in a Nets uniform vs. the Pistons next Friday.

"The deal could be agreed to principle before Tuesday, then finalized later next week. If completed, Anthony is expected to meet with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov on Tuesday or Wednesday," he writes. "One person directly involved in the trade scenario suggested that if all goes as planned and the deal is finalized, Anthony could play his first game for the Nets next Friday against the Pistons."

I don't get this line of thinking. GEt Melo next to Chandler Amare and Felton and deal with the rest in the off season. There are no other stars after Melo so Donnie will be getting killed if he doesn't bring him in

this From Ric Bucher's Chat:

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What Team do you think that Carmelo Anthony will be traded to before the Trading Deadline?
Ric Bucher

I'm going to stay with New Jersey. The question is, will they do it without a signed extension in hand. I'm told Prokhorov is willing to make that gamble, confident he can charm Melo once he gets there.

You do not get the line of thinking that giving up too much does not make sense? Teams win championships not two stars. If we gut our team and give up more picks we are hamstringing our ability to both bring in new talent and make future trades.

I want him here, I am pretty sure I said that but I am not willing to overpay for him. You have to be smart. There is an acceptable price and that price will be uncomfortable because we are getting the best player in the deal HOWEVER it does not have to be so painful it hurts... forever.

We need to be patient and make the smart trades, and the smart moves.

What is not to get about wanting to pay a fair price and not wanting to overpay?
