Guys, don't be surprised that Denver turned down that offer. Look what they did to New Jersey knowing Melo wouldn't even extend there the entire time. These guys are playing games. It will come to a head eventually. They chose to go this route so now they will pretty much be forced to trade him. Whether or not he's traded to the Knicks eventually, I'm not so sure of at this point...but he will be dealt and I can't imagine it being for a package much better than that. Part of me thinks it's a bluff for now, part of me thinks that for financial reasons, it actually doesn't make any sense for them to take on our players and we'll have to get a 3rd team involved, and a part of me thinks Ujiri and Kroenke are jack asses.

But what's funny is will Denver cooperate? Will they giv ewalsh a list of players they have interest in that he can talk GM's into sending? These guys don't know what their doing and sooner or later their gonna run the Nuggets into the ground.

Thanks for the research Kosmo...I knew that the Ted Stepien Rule didn't allow a team to trade back to back picks and that it prevented teams from trading picks they possibly couldn't have due to the provisions attached....not having as pick to trade until 2017 is mind boggling. We really need to move AR for an unprotected 2012 pick or back to Houston for our own.

I said it earlier in this thread that I don't see the Rockets as much of a threat to trade young talent for a Melo rental, but are rather scaring us into overpaying for our 2012 pick back. I know Morey had interest in AR earlier in the season...maybe he's trying to get more.

Isn't Broussard the mouthpiece for Melo's/LeBron's agency?

After this debacle, I am not really to surrender more than this offer and I am not ready to have our season go down the tubes with rumors and innuendos. We should just walk away and let him get rented somewhere else.

Broussard also said he talked to people in his camp and Melo is willing to wait for Free Agency if Denver doesn't trade him to NY now.

What it comes down to in my eyes is, Denver needs to face reality. Thats it. You dont like what we got thats fine. But if we have to dump the entire farm, to get you a young rookie contract big, we would be better off keeping THAT player, and then signing YOUR franchise player.

Even trading for picks. Make them future picks. And use the cap flexibility it creates to better the roster. Trading AR and Gallo for picks allows us to cover wilsons cap hold and sign YOUR franchise player.

Get real denver.

One very underrated possibility is that around June 28, Melo agrees not to exercise his early termination in exchange for a trade to the Knicks. Price will go down then though, probably. Maybe not a lot, but some.

Anyone heard anything more on whether Melo is showing up for tonight's game?

See, the Nets' offer totally skewed what Denver thought they could get in return.

Honestly, I'd rather see Anthony dealt elsewhere and then try to land Nene in a fire sale. And if Wilson is really going to be looking for $12 million a season, I'd be looking to move him too.

And the Knicks can offer the player they select with 2011 pick to Denver.

The only leverage that Denver has is that we won't be able to us our MLE next summer and won't be able to keep chandler in order to sign Carmelo.

However we will keep fields and our pick so they can go screw.

However I'd still like to make the move so we can make another move for a center or lock down guard

LOL, that research was posted 2 days ago, when Larry Coon had his Salary Cap chat.
