Watched this event the other night...it was ok.
All four betting favourites won...shocking.
Gracie/Prangley seemed slow and sloppy. A win over Prangley is impressive for a guy who is now just 4-0, but his performance probably won't be striking fear into the heart of the LHW division, even Strikeforce's.
Walker/Carson was an obvious mismatch, and it played out that way. I guess there was some suspense when Carson was going for the leg, but the 48 year old with one pro fight was just too slick on the ground for that. I know it has the freakshow factor, but that kind of display does not belong on a major MMA broadcast. Maybe next time they can have Walker fight someone who is actually on the SF roster, instead of looking high and low for the biggest can with the best record they can find.
Jacare/Lawler was good. Took Jacare longer to sub him than I thought it would, as he had him on the ground a few times, but he got the job done eventually. Also showed a stronger chin than he was thought to have, as he got rocked but was able to come back and win the fight. SF's MW division used to look pretty solid, but I don't know who he fights next. I guess the winner of Kennedy/Rockhold, but Jacare just fought Kennedy not too long ago. Maybe they can convince Cung Le to take a fight, but I don't think that would even be competitive.
Diaz/Cyborg was pretty **** awesome. Round 1 was probably the round of the year so far. Doesn't touch Edgar/Maynard for FOTY IMO, but a good fight all the same. Surprised Cyborg was able to hurt Diaz as much as he did, but I didn't really feel Diaz was in any danger at any point. All it really showed me was how far away Diaz is from being top 5. Not in the actual rankings, as he's probably 7-10, but he's not touching GSP, Fitch, Shields, Koscheck, Alves, or Penn. Then there's Kampmann, Condit, Sanchez, and Hardy...I'll give him the ranking ahead of those guys, but I think those fights would all be tough to call. Can you imagine what those guys would do to Cyborg, btw? It would be embarrassing.
Diaz should fight Daley next, Woodley somewhere down the line, and maybe work a fight with Mayhem Miller in there somewhere.
