If we want a player who's name is mentioned in the talks to be productive, then its probably not a good idea to chant that ****. Most of us want Melo but have a brain and STFU when you are at the games please. I understand these guys are paid a lot of $$$ and should have thicker skin, but your just feeding into the negativity they may be feeling at a time we need them to forget about Melo.
Def agree with that. That annoyed me last night. In general, I just don't like when the home crowd gets on the team unless they really deserve it which hasn't been since last year at the earliest. I think this team is full of a bunch of good guys who generally like being here and have really treated us well with some great basketball this year despite the recent slide. Gotta understand that they may have off nights...that they're human and might not always play their best....and I hate to hear them being booed and heckled and taunted with 'we want Melo' chants. I want the Knicks to like playing in NY. Most of them are from other parts of the country/world and I hate the thought of them going home at night thinking, "man, I hate these pricks here in New York".
Give them a reason to want to win for us other than honoring their contracts and chasing their own personal accomplishments. Even if they're already inspired to win titles to bolster their own legacy (i.e. Amar'e), if there is a real connection with the fans like there was back in the 90's, the team will naturally play with more pride and intensity. Like when you see Gallo make a big play and rip at the 'NEW YORK' on his jersey, or Felton when he was popping the 'NEW YORK' on his jersey earlier this season. That's pride...that's excitement for being a Knick....but that can also fade away if the fans don't show a mutual respect. It's human nature. But what can you do? I understand "this is New York", and you can't control an entire arena packed with almost 20,000 people...half of them drinking brews. It's a pain in my ass though.
