If we want a player who's name is mentioned in the talks to be productive, then its probably not a good idea to chant that ****. Most of us want Melo but have a brain and STFU when you are at the games please. I understand these guys are paid a lot of $$$ and should have thicker skin, but your just feeding into the negativity they may be feeling at a time we need them to forget about Melo.

Def agree with that. That annoyed me last night. In general, I just don't like when the home crowd gets on the team unless they really deserve it which hasn't been since last year at the earliest. I think this team is full of a bunch of good guys who generally like being here and have really treated us well with some great basketball this year despite the recent slide. Gotta understand that they may have off nights...that they're human and might not always play their best....and I hate to hear them being booed and heckled and taunted with 'we want Melo' chants. I want the Knicks to like playing in NY. Most of them are from other parts of the country/world and I hate the thought of them going home at night thinking, "man, I hate these pricks here in New York".

Give them a reason to want to win for us other than honoring their contracts and chasing their own personal accomplishments. Even if they're already inspired to win titles to bolster their own legacy (i.e. Amar'e), if there is a real connection with the fans like there was back in the 90's, the team will naturally play with more pride and intensity. Like when you see Gallo make a big play and rip at the 'NEW YORK' on his jersey, or Felton when he was popping the 'NEW YORK' on his jersey earlier this season. That's pride...that's excitement for being a Knick....but that can also fade away if the fans don't show a mutual respect. It's human nature. But what can you do? I understand "this is New York", and you can't control an entire arena packed with almost 20,000 people...half of them drinking brews. It's a pain in my ass though.

I love Walsh, and I trust him, but sometimes I feel that he sits on his hands a little too long. I'm not saying make a knee jerk reaction in the wake of the latest defeat, but it's Carmelo Anthony. The guy put himself out there on a silver platter. Go out and get him. Add Gallo to the deal to sweeten the pot. I feel like this is the type of deal that will never happen if Donnie waits too long.

Yeah, someone posted it yesterday. If anyone heard the interview with Wojo on WFAN yesterday which I posted a summary of in the last thread, Wojo said that based on what people from the Lakers told him, they do not want to do that trade at all. He said he also talked to Kobe who doesn't like the trade either. Kobe said that the Lakers' strength is their size and that they shouldn't go away from that. It's too important to them in the playoffs.

I'm with you, add Galo to Chandler and call it a day. Fields can continue starting at the 2 and Melo at the 3...let's go already!

It's been posted and there's an article somewhere where the lakers aren't interested.

Reporting from Boston —
There was another trade rumor involving the Lakers and the Denver Nuggets regarding Carmelo Anthony and a possible four-player deal, but a Lakers official, who declined to talk publicly, steadfastly denied it.

It's a scenario that was circulating in parts of the Lakers' camp Wednesday: the Lakers trade Andrew Bynum and Ron Artest for forwards Anthony and Al Harrington. But the Lakers official denied it was ever on the table and insisted team executive Jim Buss and General Manager Mitch Kupchak are on the same page as far as trade opportunities.

Or...
Giving up all 3 and a pick but keeping Walsh
or standing pat and having Walsh fired at season's end?

But how silly will you feel if Donnie actually gets Melo without including Gallo or Fields?? Why not wait it out if it's for the best possible deal? I don't understand how people can make comments like these when they have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. I can guarantee you Donnie is not sitting on his hands but rather working around the clock and simply playing his cards. When the time comes to make the right deal, he will make it or move on if it's not good for the team. Simple as that. IMO, there is no questioning Donnie until this Melo thing is over and we know all the details. Donnie is too good at this game to think he isn't playing it the right way.

It's just an opinion, and I see both sides of the argument. It's a game of chicken and we'll have to see who folds first. I say screw it and make the move. Others obviously feel differently. It's easy for us as "Message Board GMs," to make comments like these. In the end, who the hell really knows what's going on.

Marc Berman: For clarification, The "We Want Melo'' chants got loud in final minute but lasted less than 10 seconds. I fear Friday night if it goes bad. about 5 minutes ago

If (big if!) that report of the Knicks still looking hard at Chris Paul in 2012 has any truth to it, Donnie has absolutely no choice but to hold on to Gallo and Fields. Why? Because with Melo and Amar're making so much money it will be virtually impossible to clear enough for Paul to come as a free agent. It will have to be via trade or Sign+Trade. That's not gonna happen with Al Harrington or another bad financial value MLE guy as the center piece.

Even if you starstruck big name addicts don't value those two younguns as players, you have to value them as assets for future deals. People like Pharmcat seem desperate to build a second round exit team NOW NOW NOW!, instead of keeping their calm and looking for the big price.
