Re: B-R's Elo Player Rater = Addictive
This is addicting.
Interestingly, Michael Jordan has dropped about 400 points since this evening after staying pretty stable at 3200+ for a long time. Wilt, Kareem, Shaq dropped a pretty significant amount, Russell fell a decent amount as well. Big mover upwards include Magic, Hakeem, Oscar, and Kobe.
I wonder if there's some suspicious activity going on.

Democracy is a wonderful system, as long as you can rely on the judgement of the electorate.

As of 11:33am EST, he's now #1. I imagine it can fluctuate a lot in the night if someone is really determined to try and make mischief.

Something I find interesting is that Stockton's ranking by Elo has looked kind of like what it looked like in the original RealGM Top 100 back in 2003. In that ranking Stockton I believe was around 18 and only a few slots behind Malone.
Of course, by Elo now, Stockton has fallen into the 20s which is where later Top 100's put him, so maybe this is all meaningless.

Yeah that's something they need to try to fix. If people are using the system properly, it's hard for me to imagine such a big jump. If on the other hand someone finds away to refresh the same match again and again, it's easy to see how such a fall could occur overnight.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Yeah that's weird, don't worry he'll be top 10 tomorrow somehow
This voting system is gonna keep things in constant flux since there's no long term weight with any vote they don't accumulate
Also moving the skip button was perfect

Re: B-R's Elo Player Rater = Addictive
It looks like they changed the system to allow changes of +/- 8 instead of +/- 24, which means that players will rise or fall more slowly.
This makes it really surprising how far Wilt, Kareem, and Kobe have fallen, since they were near the top of the all-time and active top 5s for a while. Those guys are getting the shaft, along with a few others (most noticeably for me, Julius Erving, who I regard as a top 10 player).
Edit: I've seen Hakeem as high as #2 recently. For those who say he gets a lot of love on RealGM, he's got a contingent somewhere else that likes him even more.

Re: B-R's Elo Player Rater = Addictive
Interesting results so far.
1 Michael Jordan
2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
3 Bill Russell
4 Magic Johnson
5 Wilt Chamberlain
6 Larry Bird
7 Oscar Robertson
8 Tim Duncan
9 Hakeem Olajuwon
10 Shaquille O'Neal
11 Jerry West
12 Moses Malone
13 David Robinson
14 Julius Erving
15 LeBron James
16 Karl Malone
17 John Stockton
18 Kevin Garnett
19 John Havlicek
20 Charles Barkley
21 Scottie Pippen
22 Dwyane Wade
23 Steve Nash
24 Dirk Nowitzki
25 Clyde Drexler
26 Elgin Baylor
27 Bob Pettit
28 Kobe Bryant
29 Jason Kidd
30 Walt Frazier
31 Gary Payton
The biggest wtf seems to be Kobe at 28. I expected his fans to overrun this and have him firmly #1. Adversion to stats sites in that fanbase might be the root cause here.

If that's the result list so far, it's not bad. Yeah, there are some things I disagree with starting with Kobe being so far down but that beats the early results that were posted earlier in the thread all hollow.
