Your very own 76'ers were off to a bad start and have turned things around. Same as NY.

the knicks are 4-10 in their last 14 games since peaking at 7 games over .500. sixers are 7-3 in their last 10. so not really the same.

Unlike your Team however, NY just underwent a MAJOR Roster overhaul and transformation. Teams take time to both gel and build chemistry. Also, Mike's System wears people down by mid-Season due to the Pace and the short Rotation (Suns fans can attest to this).

how is the team wearing down by mid-season a good thing? and isn't this the first yr that doug collins is coaching the sixers?

So no. No, I do not agree.

=========================================

-- On the topic of CP3 and/or Melo, and a a 2012 Big 3...like I said in my prior posts: Part of it is the crappy Media looking to drum crap up to sell papers and get traffic.

-- Is there legs for a Melo to NY, at this point it definitely seems so. Is there legs to a Paul to NY (or Deron to NY)? Very UNlikely, but you never know.

-- Depending on what assets may be left in any potential DEN-NY deal, NY would find it VERY VERY hard to trade for any big name in 2012 (they'd likely have to move Felton+either Gallo or Fields and that's just the base of some cockamamie media drummed-up deal).

--Mags

So a new coach, 3 new starters, and a lottery pick isn't a roster overhaul? I'm just glad you are aware as a Knicks fan that we are on your tail.

That's fine. You can be on our tail. You can pass us if you want. But as of right now on Feb 10th, 2011 you're just that: BEHIND us in the Standings. more than halfway through the Season, and with roughly 30 or less Games left.

-- Also, 13 other Teams in the NBA received Lotto Picks.
-- Teams shuffle Starters all the time (NY has too), so that's also a wash (heck NY has a 2nd Round Rookie starting at the 2-Guard).
-- NY also received TEN new Players to the Team this Year, and could quite possibly face another Roster shakeup at the Trading Deadline if a Melo deal goes through by then.

If Melo was so disgusted with NY he would have either signed his extension by now, or gone through with any prior Denver attempts to trade him to a Team like NJ, or another Team.

With that said, there's no guarantee he or any other major Player would end up in NY to play alongside Amar'e but this (Melo) among the "rumors" does seem to have the most legs.

IF you bothered reading the entire chain of posts you'd see that we were comparing STARTS to the Season, NOT picking and choosing streaks mid-way through the Season. ;)

But with that said, even with a poor stretch at the moment, I'll repeat what I said above: NY is still in the 6th Seed, and NY is still ahead of the 76'ers by 2.5 Games as of Feb 10th, 2011.

Also, if you're going to compare current current stretches it'd be prudent to actually do an EQUAL comparison, instead of again picking and choosing what you want to see (IE: 10 Games to 10 Games, instead of 14 Games to 10 Games).

'Cause if you did, you'd see that NY is actually 4-6 in their last 10 compared to the 76'ers 7-3.

Teams go through bad stretches like that all the time in the League. The Knicks have. The Hornets have. The Heat have. The Magic have. Heck your very own Lakers have DCash (remember what the Threads on the GB were like earlier in the Season when that happened)? ;)

So in short: Yes. Yes, it really is. :)

-- Where did I say in the quote above that it was? I though it was pretty clear-cut that I was saying it's been a detriment to the Team for the long-haul due to not all of them being ready body-wise for it yet.

-- Where in my quote above did I deny that (this being Doug's 1st Year Coaching)?

Keep up DCash my man. ;)

haha, i'll just say this. "i didn't say" is not a valid excuse. either you didn't say it cause you were ignorant of it, or you consciously chose to omit it to make your argument better.

and choose whatever stretch you...want 7-3 vs. 4-6 is a bigger difference than the lead the knicks currently hold.

Sure it is. Not sure what happens in your neck of the woods, but in general people can't put words in your mouth.

Also, I think you need to work on your logic and reading comprehension a tiny bit. Why? Because both of your followup statements in this Thread have been in no correlation to what was either said, or to what's being discussed/quoted, and to be honest: sounds like the rambling dribbles of someone who's reaching. ;)

Speaking of omitting and picking and choosing, I bring up back your imbalanced comparison above of 14 Games to 10 Games to try and skew the results to make your own argument better.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

-- It can 1 Game lead, or it can be a 10 Game lead. At the end of the day, it's still a LEAD.

-- And, it's obviously not a big ENOUGH disparage, if we still have said lead. ;)

-- Also, like I said in my post above: they can happily pass us if they want. All I'm concerned about is actually making the Playoffs.

Why I ask are you so invested?

Thank you finally someone with a brain. Things like this will destroy the league. I'm just glad that I love Football and Soccer. Basketball will die to me if this does go through. It will be sad but I'll be laughing when teams like Blazers,Cavs,Nets, and Magic all have to remove their teams from the league. For those wanting for this to happen well your most likely get your wish but just remember the sport is going to become irrelevant.

I completely agree. It's why I also think they'll push for some form of the Franchise Tag in the next CBA. Or, a way for Teams that Draft a Player to more easily retain them. Similar to what they did in the last CBA for 2nd Round picks that bolted their Teams.

Funny that this came immediately after Melo said he'd think about resigning in Denver, and the Hornets get injured and hit a slide.

Ugh, the worst part is, I feel like they actually will influence some players decision(maybe not Chris, but if they persuade one guy to move, that's bad for the league).

Use CP3 to trade for Lebron, good plan

My question: Do they really think they could get every single star on the same team? Are they informed of the salary cap? It's gonna be even worse with the new CBA most likely. I can't even fathom how stupid the Knicks FO is.

lol @ the "source" referring to a joke at a wedding toast. It seems now that any good player is rumored to be destined for LA or NY. Remember when everything about Lebron was about going the Knicks? Hey NY, how'd that work out? STFU about Paul and Melo in NY until they are in MSG wearing a Knick uni.

Inform yourself buddy. If we were to say trade chandler, gallo and randolph for Melo then we would have only Amare, Melo, our 1st round draft pick from the year prior, Mozgov (at less than 3 mill) and Fields (assuming we extend him for say 5 mill in the first year) hitting our cap. That leaves about a full max (depending on how much the cap goes up) for the summer of 2012. If that doesn't work, we could trade Fields for a pick prior to the summer or on draft day. Throw in a ton of scrubs and you still have a pretty good team. Of course this all hinges on whether the salary cap situation stays the same (which it likely wont). And lol at calling Donnie Walsh stupid.
