Some fans are delusional if they think a trio of Billups/Melo/Amare + 2 rookie starters with no bench and no defense coach Dantoni has a chance in playoffs.
No way could this team beat anyone of the top 3 Eastern teams BOS, MIA, CHI in a playoff series.

If Chandler not traded, trade him to the Clippers for Kaman or Jordan mostly Kaman. The Clip's is looking for a Nice scorning SF. anyone agree?

Also a key stat, Carmelo leads the League in 3rd quarter scoring, When Amare leads the League in 4th quarter scoring. Those two guys on the Same team? Something great

How do you go from a dominating half to being a nobody? How do you end up taking only 5 shots against NJ? We have blamed everyone from the coach to the point guard for that, but maybe just maybe we need to start believing that Gallo is happy in his skin. Maybe he is not humble but he is just content.

I blame Amare, Chandler, and Felton. D'Antoni's use of Gallo in the corner or as a spot up shooter still allows for guys to ignore him. Gallo should have the ball in his hands as a facilitator more often than he does.

Amare is the go to guy on this team but sometimes he develops tunnel vision and forces shots despite better options, especially in the 2nd half of games. This would be the only knock I have on Amare's play.

Chandler is a terrible passer and his court vision is limited. Once he puts his head down and barrels to the rim, he'll never see open shooters. There are too many games where he becomes Free Candy-ish and makes me scream at the TV.

Felton is the main culprit for not feeding Gallo more when he is "on". I see way too many pull up shots by Felton and heat check bombs.

I'm starting to think the front office leaked this out incorrectly intentionally. Why is the third starter not named? I think its because there is no third starter involved. It's just to make casual fans think they aren't selling the farm

If we do the said deal (assuming Chandler is the third starter) and waive Billups next summer, we will have

Amare at 18.2
Melo at 18.6
Mozgov at 2.5
TD at 1.1
Walker at 0.9
Fields at 0.8
Billups at 3.7
Turiaf at 4.3

That is 47.6 million for 7 players (with Billups gone). We can literally go after another 10+ million player this summer.

Wow.
I never realized that.
Add the draft pick's cap hold though.
Still lotta wiggle room right there.

who is there to go after though ? we'll need a pg. if we take billups, we're not going to cut him.

Go after Luke as part of the deal?

It would do better than our previous team. What's your point? Plus they would still be able to build upon that team.

How is this way to much? Your basically swapping Felton for Billups who i prefer more hes not nicknamed "Mr. Big Shot" for no reason. Gallo For Melo and your giving up 1 more starter? Plus who cares about Eddie Curry and Randolph there in the dog house as it is. So your basically just parting with 1 more starter. We are not going to get Melo for free people hes labeled a Franchise player for a reason.

we can beat Chicago....and we have a punchers chance against Miami. But I agree, for the most part, we're still not a sure thing against either of those teams. But it's a start. That's the point. Let's start now and build around them.

We are talking Landry Fields, one of the most potent rookies to play this season. And at least we are talking playoffs. This current team has a good chance to slip right out of playoff contention if we continue to lose the way we have been losing and if a team behind us in the standings gets Hot after the all star break.

Why is the conversation constantly being framed as melo vs gallo when in reality its melo vs gallo and probably melo too in a couple of months? Nobody is saying that gallo is anywhere near melo or that gutting the team for melo wouldn’t make us better than we are right now. That's not the argument...

Plus meant to add, Felton had very little playoff experience and Gallo and Chandler have none.

Kaman's always hurt and owed like a zillion dollars over the next millenium. No way, No how on Kaman. I'd think about Jordan but they'd have to give me more perhaps a pick to get me to bite on that.

Firstly, I think that team can be a contender with the proper moves. Getting a center and a backup PG in could do wonders.
And honestly, do you think saving Gallo is gonna be the big difference maker in terms of whether well be a contender or not?

The only reason this rumor got out was to add pressure to the knicks. Billups is a family man now he doesn't want the NY scene. Carmelo didn't want Billiups dragged into a trade. I think they are trying all the stops to make Melo say he will stay 1 more year and not opt out.

I disagree, I'd expect us to beat Chicago honestly (it'd be tough perhaps even 7) and I think we'd have a shot against Miami. LeBron has folded in the playoffs repeatedly and Bosh has limited experience in the Playoffs and failed miserably in his two chances. Fields may be a rookie but he's better than anyone on Miami not named LeBron, Wade and Bosh. I also like Billups postseason pedigree so I think we'd have a legit shot at beating them (not having homecourt could be the deciding factor). I don't think we'd beat Boston.

All you guys can say with a straight face that Billups is better than Ray?

Would you guys be this nonchalant if you weren't clinging to the improbable notion that we will get CP3?

you're right, what if the clips give us a first round pick to take Kaman... lets say 2012 or 2013?
