Worst case scenario next season salary cap wise (although I would imagine it would help the team) is if Love continues to be a 20 and 10 player and Beasley raises his scoring average to 23-25 points a game. Then they will cost this team some serious money.

Guy can throw down. I was joking though. Roger Mason could actually help this squad a bit

Roger Mason of three years ago yes. Roger Mason 2011? That seems very unlikely.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure his only decent year was with the Spurs and the Spurs make everyone look good. Right now I don't see what he would bring to the table that we couldn't try to get from Ellington.

Roger Mason would never be more than a bench warmer. His time is over.

Mason and Ariza are both great examples of why you shouldn't overpay for role players off of good teams.

Mason is only making 1.4 mil. Ariza is making 6.3 mil. Ariza's offense isn't particularly efficient, but his all around game makes him a pretty solid wing.

Ariza is overpaid, but he's still a solid defender at least.

1.4 million more than he should be making.

Ariza was given that big contract by Houston because they thought that his play in LA was an indicator that he was finally coming around and developing into a borderline star player. They were completely wrong, however. His play was an indicator that he had a fairly small role with very little defensive attention because he was playing next to Kobe and Pau. In Houston, as the "man," he looked really bad. He's back to looking pretty decent again now, though, as a role player playing off of Chris Paul.

My main point was that I've seen Wolves fans here and elsewhere pining after role players on good teams like Afflalo, Dejaun Blair, and Lawson and I wouldn't be so sure that their production would transfer if they were forced to play here.

Yep, Memphis pick has become the most expendable one since the protection ends with cash considerations. Utah pick protection ends with a pick swap.

I think Afflalo would be a great 3rd or 4th option anywhere. The dude can shoot and can play great D, and that is exactly what you are looking for in a 3rd or 4th option - to hit the open jumper. I dont expect him to be any more than that. The problem with Ariza is that Houston and NO tried to make him their main scoring wing, which is something that he simply couldnt do. As long as he is behind Love and Beasley and whoever in the scoring option list, then I think Afflalo would be great here - meaning a great role player here.

The difference is that he showed clear progress over his career, from his time with Orlando to his years with the Lakers. Houston took a calculated risk that he would continue improving and, yeah, they were wrong but that's no reason to stop taking risks like that.
