Why are people opposed to a Felton/Billups swap? Ypu really think Felton is the long term solution? He had one good month and has been in chuck mode ever since, is shooting horrendous percentages and is not playing like a true pg. Billups while certainly not a true pg either has been on fire since December.
You're wrong
Felton went through a rough stretch, has been playing with a banged up hand, and the team also went a stretch without both Chandler and Gallo, that put additional stress on Felton and Amare to produce
Felton was outstanding tonight, and has been the last several games, what are you watching?
Felton has been a key positive in a LOT of our wins this season. He's a big part of the reason why we're over .500 and a big part of our culture shift. He's 26 years old. He's averaging 9 assists per game. The Felton bashing is getting ridiculous.
That we win when Felton plays better or shoots well is not a mystery. This team requires some production from its PG the way it is going. The point is Felton plays like a combo guard, not a pure PG. If he played like a classic point, you would see more pick and rolls executed and he'd get even more assists. People underrate our talent still, but Felton has talented offensive players around him. He could average 12 assists a game in this system with less emphasis on his own offense.
But Ray can still get 9 assists and shoot us in or out of a game as he has shown. As it stands now, when he is good to excellent offensively, we usually win. What I want to see is his offensive output be less of a factor in whether we win or not.
So, no reason to be too hard on Felton. He has been very good much of the year and has helped us plenty. But I think people can be honest and say they want a better PG or for Felton to become a better PG and less of a combo guard himself. Otherwise, it is fair to call him a rental player without it being disrespectful or ungrateful.
