The Nuggets are selling the idea they’ll be content to keep Anthony through the Feb. 24 trade deadline if no one meets their demands. The Nuggets want to package Anthony and Chauncey Billups(notes) for a deal that includes Danilo Gallinari(notes), Raymond Felton(notes), the expiring contract of Eddy Curry(notes) and a draft pick, the New York Daily News reported

Who wouldn't do that deal here, and why?

Because Walsh is dumb, and wants us to be a losing team. Im sure Carmelo is so fed up he doesnt even want to come here anymore. If it takes this long to get him, Why try.

This guy is one of the worst posters. So Donnie did all of this work to get us under the cap and in a position to be players in not only this past offseason but also right now, when we have a chance to get Melo, yet he wants up to be a losing team? Seriously, you claim to be a Knicks fan, but you're worse than some of these trolls.

Why are people opposed to a Felton/Billups swap? Ypu really think Felton is the long term solution? He had one good month and has been in chuck mode ever since, is shooting horrendous percentages and is not playing like a true pg. Billups while certainly not a true pg either has been on fire since December.

Felton may or may not be the long term answer but Billups certainly isn't. He's old now and can't play as many minutes. Knicks don't have a backup PG. What do you do after next year? Hope that Paul/Williams shows up ready to sign as a free agent? Felton may not be the answer, but he is an option. I'm betting Felton will pass more as he gets a better understanding of this offense, more trust of his teammates, and two extremely potent scorers in Amare and Melo. -Jitpal

You're wrong

Felton went through a rough stretch, has been playing with a banged up hand, and the team also went a stretch without both Chandler and Gallo, that put additional stress on Felton and Amare to produce

Felton was outstanding tonight, and has been the last several games, what are you watching?

Felton has been a key positive in a LOT of our wins this season. He's a big part of the reason why we're over .500 and a big part of our culture shift. He's 26 years old. He's averaging 9 assists per game. The Felton bashing is getting ridiculous.

That we win when Felton plays better or shoots well is not a mystery. This team requires some production from its PG the way it is going. The point is Felton plays like a combo guard, not a pure PG. If he played like a classic point, you would see more pick and rolls executed and he'd get even more assists. People underrate our talent still, but Felton has talented offensive players around him. He could average 12 assists a game in this system with less emphasis on his own offense.

But Ray can still get 9 assists and shoot us in or out of a game as he has shown. As it stands now, when he is good to excellent offensively, we usually win. What I want to see is his offensive output be less of a factor in whether we win or not.

So, no reason to be too hard on Felton. He has been very good much of the year and has helped us plenty. But I think people can be honest and say they want a better PG or for Felton to become a better PG and less of a combo guard himself. Otherwise, it is fair to call him a rental player without it being disrespectful or ungrateful.

Apparently...

1. Nets and Nuggets have been talking for a week
2. Knicks have no assets
3. Nets or Nuggets have initiated conversations depending on what your read.

stuporman wrote:The whole 'Melo has given the Knicks 7 months to get him', 'Melo is gift wrapped to the Knicks' angle is really getting old. For one thing it's not like he's sitting under a tree or in a window and all the Knicks have to do is go get him. He's the property of the Nuggets and they decide what he does and where he goes through the rest of this season.

Which brings me to the main point that sure Melo has let Denver and pretty much everyone know he wants to get to NY but since he's under contract with the Nugs they have a big say in who can step up to the table. So sure he's given Denver 7 months to do something they in turn have only given the Knicks the time of day for like the past 2-3 weeks...

So if Melo is pissed at anyone for not getting traded to the Knicks for the past 7 months he's pissed at Denver.....not the Knicks.

No. That makes to much sense.

I think this thread will have the trade..Dolan was seen leaving Walsh's office 25 mins after the game...i think it was like "get it done Donnie or you're fired"...Gallo, Curry, Felton, Chandler and first to Den, Billups and Melo to NY and Randolph to Minn..is Billups restricted or UR in 2012?

Look I'm not going to start this debate again but he routinely takes 15+ shots, either jacks up those stupid contested runners on the pick and roll or takes a three, randomly decides to put up a three four seconds into the shot clock, doesn't really help any of the other guys get easy shots like Nash, Kidd do and always gets posted up after he doesn't switch on screens and plays mediocre defense. He also tries to be a hero at the end of games which has single handedly lost us a couple of games. He played one good month and then came back down to earth. In December, he shot .41%, in January he shot 37% and 29% from the three while averaging 15.2 shots a game. Chauncey: 45%, 48% from the three in December, 46%, 49% from the three in January and is shooting .52% this month. I know Chauncey can only play about 32 minutes a game now which is why I have been saying for a long time to try and get Ridnour, he always tries to get everyone involved and is extremely efficient. Granted he doesn't play much defense but neither does Felton really.

He's an investigative microbe perched on Donnie's ear using a very tiny wifi laptop to post this top secret scoop.

You realize Dolan used to meet with Isiah after every game, right?

This means nothing. At all.

this is true. however i think he might be pissed if we turn down a reasonable offer for him. that's of course, whatever he thinks is reasonable. in a way, we're denying him his money if we do that.
