I agree about the Chandler and or Gallo part. But their offer, I dont think its because they just dont want to trade Melo, otherwise why even make an offer? Melo isnt stupid, i'd imagine he wouldnt even sign and trade to the Knicks for all of those peices because he knows the Knicks team would be gutted. I think he'd rather wait it out and sign in the offseason taking his chances with the new CBA. So Denver gets nothing out of asking for the farm except maybe getting NY to raise their offer a bit.
It's a reasonable place to hash out the deal IF the Nuggets are real about doing something.
But I think they believe they can bully Melo into going to New Jersey. I really think that they believe that and based just on a few snippets from Melo, I believe it too.
My confidence in Melo's resolve to say "F you, I'll just go to free agency" is at an all-time low right now. I sense someone who is ready to get this over with and that is almost always an irreversible, irresistible urge. The desire to get a headache (especially a financial headache) over with is VERY strong. That will cause the Knicks to have a big uphill battle next week IMHO.
We'll see. Maybe Melo is fine with waiting it out. But I doubt it honestly. He would have to have nerves of steel.
Now everybody knows what I think but I'm not Melo's agent lol. He will NOT lose much if anything on the new CBA -- I'm guaranteeing that and staking my credibility on it 100% -- but the key thing is that Melo believes that there is something to lose, he feels the pressure, and he wants this thing over with. That's a powerful thing we're up against.
Not being negative but I don't want Knick fans to be disappointed. Melo clearly does not want to go to the Nyets but if he feels that there is $65M hanging in the balance, and I think he is sorta ignorant and does think that, then the Knicks will be very hard pressed to get him.
