I asked Melo why not use extension to force trade, he said he didn't want to do it like that. Also said he didn't want to be a rental.

So he doesn't want to come to New York...

I guarantee that a lineup of Billups, Fields, Melo, Amare, MLE Center > Than any lineup built around our current team. What is wrong with you guys?

AMEN TO THIS! I TOTALLY AGREE! So, what's the prob with trading Gallo/Chandler/Felton/Curry/Pick for Melo/Billups?!?!?!

Sometimes I just don't understand you guys. Instead of envisioning how good we could be, how good we need to be if we could hold on the Gallo, you guys are treating him like he is irrelevant.

Common sense IMO says he is not only is Gallo relevant, but he may be the difference between us being an "Altanta hawks" or being something more, way more.

He may be the difference (if we can use him as trade bait for Paul, Deron, D.Howard) between being a "good team" and being a contender. I just don't get some of you guys here.... WHY THE F SHOULD WE EVER BID AGAINST OURSELVES?

Isn't that what we pay Walsh for? Or do we pay Walsh to just give away talent because the other team makes crazy demands from a position of weakness.

gallo for paul/howard or deron? ROFL, so many teams could be that offer

why would paul come here if his boy melo isnt here?

deron is from the Tex area, and dallas has space in 2012..huge competition

bottome line is one cant talk about a 3rd star without getting the 2nd one first

I guess that's a formal end to his "I'm not afraid to go to free agency" stance.

Damn he's caving big time isn't he.

he wants his money, cant blame him

he gave ny 7 months to get the deal done, ny couldnt....name me one other star who gave ny that long to get the deal done...lebron? no, wade? no, webber in the early 2000s? no....no other player has given this much time

You still trolling away with that 7 month bull$hit?

Its so funny that people think Donnie is afraid to give up too much when he did just that last year when clearing cap space . He does was he has to do. I trust him.

Well if you're ever shooting in Chitown let me know. I'll AD the **** out of it.

Yeah? OK, Chicago's acting pool interests me more than NYC and LA actually. Its on my radar. Did you train as a cinematographer or has your focus been more on running sets?

I wish but I don't have any experience actually working with the camera, but I've always had a friend of mine do the shooting since he's just got a knack for it, great eye, steady hands and he's good at visualizing how things will happen. I'm still a student so I've never had a bigger role than a gaffer on a project with more than a 15 people, although I've produced a number of those sized sets and have gotten to PA and peek over some ADs' shoulders on 30+ person sets. I was kidding with comment, but if you need some one who likes to go all OCD planning things out, anticipating problems and has crazy russian strength I'd gladly help out if you got someone with more experience to AD for ya.

You guys that are so willing to give up Gallo, Chandler and maybe even Fields need to relax. In Donnie we trust.

Honestly - I feel like Fields is over-rated by this board. I would rather include him then Gallo for sure. Gallo is only getting better and I feel like trading him now is selling low. Definitely no Mozgov and no Gallo in my trade offer.

No kidding, Gallo is also younger than Fields.

But he still has plenty of time to say this. I thin it's about 50/50 he does say this before it's all said and done. It's the last and most powerful card in his hand.

Perhaps, but he shouldn't be testing us like this to begin with. Not if he intends to come to the best team possible to compete for a ring.

That ring ain't coming right off the bat. Even if we just added Melo to this current roster we still aren't contending. Some pieces are still missing. He also has more ties to Denver's F/O than NY's F/O. He may be trying to let them recoup as much as possible from NY to a certain extent. He also knows that NY is going to drain the sink. Like we've been saying it's going to be a fair deal in the end. Gallo/Fields, Chandler for a first (or AR for a first), Ar(or chandler) and cap relief.

You should learn to read. Your comprehension is terrible, and you misrepresent what people are saying to suit your own agenda.

He never said it was a straight up trade of Gallo for those guys. He was merely saying that he was an asset to use in such a trade.

Does anyone know if Melo was asked if he wanted to go to another team that had to gut their roster to get him so it was him alone or maybe with another player? I doubt it, but if anyone heard the answer to that, I'd love to hear it. -Jitpal

Is there a reason why he doesn't just come out and say no and that he will only sign with the Knicks?
