Rumorpress update

The most recent talks have the Rockets sending Courtney Lee and Brad Miller to the Bulls in exchange for Keith Bogans and Omer Asik. The Bulls like the idea of getting the two guard they covet while receiving a veteran big man (who is familiar with the team) in Miller coming back to the Bulls, but the Bulls are reluctant to give up a young and promising Asik, and have to absorb Miller’s rather large deal that has 2 years and 10 million left after this season. Stayed tuned as this situation unfolds.

I think some of you guys are really overrating the upside of Omer Asik. He's a rookie, so he may improve. But some of you guys act like he's 19 and has huge potential. The guy turns 25 in a couple months. He's a year younger than Loul Deng. Most likely, he is what he is. Why are some projecting massive improvement?

I really think any deals should be analyzed by viewing Omer as something close to what he is. Not some mythical guy who is going to average a double-double and 3 blocks a game.

That's not to say he has no value now, because he's a solid bench big man. But thinking he's magically going to turn into a borderline all-star by making some huge jump from being a 24 year old to a 25 year old seems a little crazy to me.

He's hot right now.

He will be shooting 100% by playoff time, time to buy low.

Would you like to have Marcin Gortat with better defense on your team? If he doesn't join us, we will have Dwight Howard to deal with in many years to come and I would like to have a guy who can slow him a bit with his lenght.

Yes please.

Can the Bulls then do a Mayo for Korver + 2 2011 1st rounders?

Rose/Watson
Mayo/Lee
Deng/Brewer
Boozer/Gibson
Noah/Miller

Find this rather hard to believe. Why would we want to take back Miller? I thought Adelman loved him? Having two old big men backing-up Noah scares the s*** out of me.

Some of you are severly discounting Courtney Lee. He isn't a stud, but he really isn't bad at anything. He is athletic, can shoot, can pass, and most importantly with your coach....can defend. Most late round picks are specialists and can do one thing well, but suck at other things. Lee is good all around and is still young (not saying he will get a lot better but it means you can plug him in for a while). So everyone saying 2 late first round picks is fair value for him....sorry but it really isn't. Especially not in this draft. I would be shocked if a player as good as Lee will be available at the 26th or 28th spots in this draft, especially one who can be as good as Lee immediately.

The Charlotte pick is better value but you guys seem to be overvaluing that pick. I'm not saying it isn't fair value for Lee, but that pick may not come until 3-4 years from now. Getting that pick alone doesn't really help the Rockets right now, so why would we give up a quality young SG for that?

If the Rockets are going to try to sneak into the playoffs now then we need size. If we are going to blow it up and rebuild then we need high picks right now, not near 2nd rounders or picks that may not come for years.

I just don't think the teams have what is needed to help each other.

I appreciate your perspective. Despite the last line in your post, what would you be accepting of from the Bulls in a trade for Lee?

Asik, Bogans (for depth), Charlotte pick?

I wouldn't be pissed at the team if they got the Charlotte pick and one of those other late 1st rounders. I would probably even be ok with the Charlotte pick alone, but the only thing is that pick may not come for a while so who knows when that will help us. Since Lee is still young and under contract, I'm not sure I would want to give him away and make the team weaker now for an unknown asset sometime down the line.

What we really need is some size, but it makes complete sense why you don't trade a big for a small. With that being said, I do think your team is a solid SG away from really competing.

LOL, I would die of laughter if Brad came back, but again. Can't part with Asik for him.

Replace Asik with Taj and I'll do it.

I like Miller, but not for that contract. Just too much money. Does anyone know if his 3rd year is a player option? His shooting is great, but his lack of quickness is gonna get us in trouble.

The best part of that is getting rid of bogans. My guess though is that Korver is going to have to be traded for a big.

No. No. No. Asik for Lee is bad to begin with, and now they want us to take on Brad's contract? He's big and slow and will be done soon and will cost too much money. Hell no. Get Mayo.

Miller has a 17.2 PER this season and is shooting 46% from the field and 37% from three. He's already as slow as he'll ever get. He's the same Brad.

If we can get 2 legit rotation players for essentially Asik, then why not do it?
