If he's willing to play Centre I'd be all for it. A lot of people have the misconception that Raptor fans are completely turned off from international talent because of Colangelo's fetish with them. Well, the fact is, if they were hard nosed talented Euro players like Garbo, or Scola or Divac we'd be on board. I'd have an entire team full of them if we could win that way. But when you draft guys like Bargnani or pick up free agents like Turkoglu, and trade for the Belinelli's of the world it skews our fans view of international talent.
Even if he's willing to play centre, that doesn't automatically turn him into a shotblocking defensive force. He's a below-the-rim type of player.
You don't need to be a shotblocking force in order to be considered a good defensive player. Kanter seems like a prospect that could grow into a legit low post threat, and that's something this team could use.
Youngblood - No doubt many Raps fans do not have an international bias. I would love to see a Kanter/Ed (or Amir) front-line and have Bargs traded. That would give a big boost to our defensive woes.
The problem with us is, we can't contain perimeter players, so a shot-blocker is needed to cover Jose or DeRozan when they got blow by. Bargnani doesn't need another good defensive player to play beside him, but a good help defender to hide his weak help defense.
I like Kanter, but he couldn't be a great help for this team.
