BTW......this article has "tanking" written all over it:

“Over the last five or six games, we’ve mixed up our [defensive] coverages a little bit. I think that’s important,” head coach Jay Triano said Monday after the Raptors’ first practice following a two-game trip to England. “I don’t think it’s good for a guy like Ed Davis to go into his second year saying, ‘This is how I guard the screen-roll. This is the only way I know how to do it.’ I think our goal is to challenge our young players under different learning situations and coverages and put them in different situations on the floor and on the offensive end as well and see what they can do.”

To break down some of the coach’s jargon: The Raptors are going to try some new things over the season’s last 19 games. There will be different offensive plays run, different lineups used, different defensive schemes implemented. All of that will be done in the name of long-term growth. It is possible that will lead to short-term headaches, though. It takes longer for young players to adjust to change than it does for veterans.

Sounds like they are going to use the rest of the season as an extended training camp. Practicing new sets.

Good for them. It's the way to go. More development........& more losses....

Got to be a matchup thing with either Demar or Bargnani, and Jose has to make the choice once he sees the defence.

On last-second inbound attempts, though, I want to see Bargnani inbound the ball and get it back off a screen for the jumper. You don't just toss it to him at a standstill 30ft away, you take advantage of his height on the pass AND shot, and let him step into it. You can count on him to get a shot off, if nothing else, which is easier said than done. Demar, not so much.

Which is kinda sad because he isint a great dribbler in the first place. Or is a good thing that he can do things well with plenty of holes still in his game? Hmm... :meditate:

I agree, and it should of been in DeMar's hand all three OT's against NJ. He had the smaller Deron Williams on him, and he was in foul trouble, so at the very least he would be able to get a shot off without much distraction.

Letting Deron play with 5 fouls for so long was CLASSIC Raptor ball.

We should ride out Demar the rest of the season, let him put up 20 ppg. Rookie Kevin Durant style.

You know we're trying to lose, right? I mean, really trying to lose. Just like the T-wolves, the Kings and the Wiz. All. Trying. To. Lose.

But apart from that, you're right. My all time "favourite" Bosh moment was a few years ago in a close game in Houston, last two minutes, Yao has five fouls and is guarding Bosh. Bosh takes his usual 15 seconds to think about it then tries a step-back jumper. Clank!

Of course Yao played until the end of the game, and of course the Raps lost.

My favourite Bosh moment was last year when he got hurt blocking an OJ Mayo layup late in a close game. He continued on to play OT, where he was used as a decoy because he could barely move. Bargnani had Zach Randolph on him, who had 5 fouls, and he couldn't score on him. We ended up losing on a Zach Randolph layup.

I think the Raptors should spend the rest of the season focusing on identifying mismatches & figuring out what to do when they have a mismatch. They are terrible at it. So many missed opportunities.

It's sad when you see Bargnani shoot over guys 8 inches shorter than him from 18 feet.

The way I look at it, Bargnani will probably have 1 more full season to show something worth keeping, otherwise his role will have to be greatly diminished or he's gone from the roster. I think for DeRozan there is so much more potential to tap, and he seems to be a guy who is willing to put the effort in and someone who a lot of coaches could bond with and instill a winning mentality. As the years go by for Andrea, the level of optimism is fading. Its not a big deal now because we suck regardless, but long-term wise, his lack of improvement(s) is starting to remove himself out of that picture. I'm also not optimistic on the team's chances on getting a coach who could get the most out of him

All I ask is that he gets a fair shake to finish Games.

As far as beating people 1 on 1, He still has ways to go. The best player at breaking down there man on this Team is Bayless....Barbosa being a close 2nd. Bayless beats his man off of the dribble meanwhile Barbosa beats his man because of his speed. Demar needs to learn to better cross up his man like Bay. Hopefully D-Roz sees his weaknesses and makes them his strength.

Demar didn't really have a lot of haters.

There's others that I didn't bookmark.

Let me ask a question. If someone decides not to overrate a player from their own hometown team, they're labelled a hater?

We're trying to lose via the rotation, no? Trying to lose 21.5 hours a day, but when you accidentally have a chance to win the game, you try to win the game. You have to.

We may as well be throwing individual games in the waning moments, trying to win via isos and failing, and it's not even constructive. It's depressing. If you wanted to stack the odds against yourself and hope for an eventual positive result, just run a Demar/AB pick and roll all game, by game 82 it might work and next year looks better.

He needs to be relentless in pursuit of improvement. So far, he is still below average in everything except scoring and defense. This season is a wash but I'd like for him to try and go for 4.5+ rpg and 2+ apg next season, he's becoming too one-dimensional for my liking. I still support him obviously, but he must evolve.

Sorry, but I've been depressed watching the Kings lately, and following the T-Wolves "progress" from afar. Kings have been literally giving away games in the late stages, repeatedly. Same with Minny. And then I see what Bargs was doing in OT on Saturday, and put two and two together.

It actually gives me hope, because I know Bargs can play better defence and rebound when he gives a crap. Right now, he has no motivation to. The only problem is that the creation of a culture of defensive accountability within the club has been put on hold for another season. But 2012 is supposed to be a strong draft.

First of, it doesn"t say that Demar is going to be getting the ball at the end of the game, (unless I skipped that line when reading)

Second, he has no handles and isnt good at creating for others at the end of game or clock situations and cant see that improving unless he gets about 200 opportunities.

Third, there is no way he makes the allstar game next season. Jeez Louise. Allstar? theres some first class homerism. Wade, Lebron, Peirce, Allen, Joe Johnson, Anthony, all at the wings, Williams, Rondo, Billups, Wall at the point. So Unless coaches decide to put him in as a pf or c it ain't happening.

True Say, No arguement from me Messi.

Bayless needs to better finish plays thats correct. Just remember when we played Memphis He was the player that tied the Game off of his drive. I believe that D-Roz and Bayless should be used more at the end of Games. Bayless must work on his finishing though. Demar just needs to better use his skillz to beat his man.

That ish was an absolute blow by lol. :( wont be seeing much of that for a while or ever...he doesn't play with that kind of confidence unless he's starting.
