No the Wizards traded that pick for Javaris Crittenton.

When I mentioned NY earlier as a comparison I didnt realize how right I was. Dont get me wrong, I still think he is an inch if not two taller, 1-2 inches longer, and 15 lbs heavier all while being 19 and still growing and filling out.
Im not concerned about his future potential as he is also much smarter and more dedicated than NY. But I am worried if we drafted him at the 3 and resigned NY at the 2, how there games would coexist. Ill tell you what though. The legnth/defense of Wall, NY, and Barnes would give team fits for years, if only we had a big man with some Brains or Balls(god forbid he'd have both)

That would leave us with four legit starters with Wall, Young, Barnes and Smith. All are young and hyper-athletic. Booker would be the backup forward who could play alongside Barnes or Smith, Crawford is the backup combo guard. We'd be hurting at the center position with only Seraphin and our #20 draft pick, but Rome wasn't built in a day.
Atlanta not doing that deal. McGee doesn't help Atlanta like that. Blatche is a negative move. The center Atlanta needs probably isn't available and no need trading Smith much lesser players. I like Williams or Vassely for Washington.

I'd do a Batum deal, but if we draft Barnes, then it would be moot. I'll poke around the TC to come up with something.

mhd, I'd rather trade McGee for a 2012 lotto pick. My thinking is that it would be more useful in a trade scenario when we try to acquire Howard or negotiate a sign-and-trade for some other star player. We would be sitting pretty in Summer 2012 with two lotto picks plus $18M or so in cap room.

I can't think of a team that would trade a lottery pick in 2012 willingly. A team that trades for McGee or mortgages their future should probably think they are a playoff caliber team and maybe even deeper.

I don't know if he'll pan out to be a primary option star like Paul Pierce, or more of a role-player third option like Deng, but either way, I'm sure he'll be a quality starting-caliber SF in this league.
We need a long term option at the 3, and Barnes fits the bill. We also need an outsider shooter because outside of Young and Lewis, our options are limited, so he'll fit in there as well. All we need is to add a banger with the other two picks, a rebounder, tough guy inside. A guy like Faried would fit the bill.
I mean, 40 pts, 8 boards, on 17 shots is nothing to sneeze at. He's looking more and more like the top pick he was projected to be before the season started.
I was thinking the exact same thing - I know it was just one great game but dang
he looked good. Take Faried (or Singleton) with the lower pick and smile.
