Honestly, I thought we should have pulled the plug on the trade and rolled with the team we had. I felt, and still feel, that far too much went out the door to justify what was coming back.
But my point is you could have taken last night's game thread, substituted Melo's name (or Chauncey's, for that matter) with Gallo or Chandler, and it would have read exactly like a game thread from the first half of the season. Outside of the team (which hasn't been stable since Amare got here), nothing ever changes around here.
I agree 100%, somewhere amongst negotiations we caved and gave Gallo (this is when we drew "our line") and then they had the balls to DEMAND for Mozgov. By then we had lost everything. Don't get me wrong, we weren't winning a chip with that squad but if you only got $100,000 to your name, you don't buy a bentley, and thats what we did. We're dirt broke, but we have a Bentley in the driveway.
We always had the leverage, and I think we could have still had Gallo and Mozgov in this squad, especially if (and I don't understand why it didn't happen but sent Brewer to Denver) and although it doesnt make us better defensively, we would have been a bit deeper.
