Article on Jimmer:

Fredette is projected for the middle of the first round -- maybe a little lower if the physical goes particularly bad at the Chicago pre-draft workouts -- and maybe a little higher if enough top prospects stay in school or overseas. He could touch the end of the lottery of a particularly weak Draft or he could last until the 20s, and nobody could be surprised at either outcome.

"You just have to know what you're getting," one scout said. "He has limited athleticism. He's not the greatest ball handler. He's just an OK passer. But as far as flat out shooting, he's one of the best in the country. And if you put him around good players, he'll be even better..."

He can't run the point and can't check two guards with much size...

"I think he's almost invisible defensively," one personnel director told David Aldridge of TNT and NBA.com.

I'd disagree about Jimmer's athleticism, I'd put it closer to average. His ball handling is definitely poor, interior passing isnt bad, but running plays for others?, Im not sure about.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Why do we keep talking about Jimmer? He shouldn't sniff the top 5 and I wouldn't even touch him in the top 10.

the raptors draft board should look like this

PG: Kyrie Irving
Brandon Knight

SF: Harrison Barnes
Derrick Williams

If Barnes or Kyrie are available you take them first , i doubt both are on the board when we pick. After that its Derrick Rose lite , Brandon Knight, or Derrick Williams who will have to play SF in this league. The one guy that should be avoided at all costs is Perry Jones. Huge red flags with this guy , huge motivational and character issues with Perry Jones. I hope the Raptors dont get suckered into his potential allure. So many better , harder working , character guys to take on this team. Perry Jones just reminds me of those players who just coasts on his talents, and never strives to be the best because he thinks hes good enough already. He would not be a good cornerstone to build a franchise with at all.

I think Brandon Knight will wind up being in the conversation for our pick (assuming we wind up around 6th).

I'm not enamoured of him by any means but I'd rather take him than Kemba Walker. Nice little feature on him here.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball ... cky_031911

Check out this quote from John Calipari:

“Of all the players I’ve coached – and I’ve had guys that would live in the practice facility literally – I’ve never seen a guy with this kid’s work ethic,” Calipari said. “He focuses on, ‘Where are my weak areas?’ and he goes after them.”

As I say, I don't love him and I question whether he'll be able to run a team efficiently. But in a bad draft, I'd be OK gambling on a freshman point guard with an outstanding work ethic, good athleticism, strong defensive potential, a good shooting stroke and a good head on his shoulders.

I was very impressed with those high school clips of Knight back in September. It doesn't look like he's a top prospect in this draft, but I haven't really followed him. I wonder what went wrong.

Valanciunas

Lebron

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Five years ago the Raptors finished fifth-last in the NBA, and the rest is history...

Could #5 be our lucky number?

Brandon Knight has more potential than any of the PGs (maybe even Irving too).

he's had a solid freshman season putting up similar numbers to Tyreke (with better 3pt shooting, worse steals/rebounding). He's certainly shown he can be a good scorer, and he is the leader of that Kentucky team, the question is whether he'll be good enough at running an offense in the NBA (kind of the same problem Tyreke has). It's hard to project how a combo guard will turn out, but he's certainly worth considering with the pick. I'd definitely take Kyrie/Valanciunas/Perry/Kanter/Barnes over him though.

Kyrie Irving was on the Dan Patrick show this morning. I provided the link is you want to give it a listen. He's definitely already a pro when it comes to dealing with tough questions from the media. http://www.danpatrick.com/2011/03/23/kyrie-irving-talks-about-state-of-his-toe-his-future/
Duke guard Kyrie Irving joined the show to talk about the NCAA Tournament and his foot.

Irving talked about the foot injury. He said he finished the game when it happened, but he could barely move the next game.

Dan asked Irving about people calling him soft. “It was definitely tough, especially knowing some people don’t know the whole situation,” Irving said.

Irving said that he has full confidence in his toe. He wouldn’t be out there if he thought it could get hurt worse. Irving said that he just wants to help him.

Dan asked if there is any reason he wouldn’t return to Duke. “Right now there is no reason why I wouldn’t come back,” Irving said. “I love everything about Duke.”

But Irving said that he won’t think about it now. “Honestly, I’m not sure right now,” Irving said.

I wouldn't be upset if we drafted Knight if Kyrie and Barnes were off the board. I actually think he's gonna be better than a lot of people give him credit for.

Its about time people start warming up to Brandon Knight. The kid is only 18 years old with a great work ethic.I think people stopped watching him because he was appearing late in mock drafts but this kid is a top 10 pick no doubt. I believe he has a good shot of going top 5 too. Hes really not that much worse then a guy like Irving. Irving is a better passer but Knight isnt too bad neither.

Draft Knight if Irving,Barnes,P.Jones and Williams are off the board.

Poopsworld summed up Knight's season pretty well in an article this morning.

You could just as easily put Brandon Knight in the bottom ten as you can in the top ten.

Opinions on Knight vary that greatly.

Brandon has had a decent tournament, and that always helps a players stock, but when you look at his entire season there are a lot of questions Brandon is going to have to answer in workouts. Like Henson, Brandon may best be served staying another year at Kentucky and polishing up his game.

Knight is a capable scorer, a sometimes reluctant passer and overall his game is solid, but not spectacular.

Brandon looks like a lot of other guards in college basketball, making him a bubble guy in the top ten.

If Brandon comes out, he will get drafted, the skills are there and the talent is there. However he may not go nearly as high as some project mainly because he has a lot of questions.

A ten to late teens pick is more likely than something in the top 10.

I need to watch more of Brandon Knight, haven't seen him play much.

I know he's a good shooter, with good scoring instincts. Beyond that, I don't know a whole lot about him.

When Kentucky upsets Ohio St, Brandon Knight will start getting his recognition.

Brandon Knight is a very special young player at the PG spot. When you evaluate him you have to go back to his High School career, where he dominated at the highest levels. The list of his accolades and success would take a long time to list , he would of been Florida's highest scoring high school basketball player ever if he didn't get injured. He has an exceptional resume that is stapled with success. Overall if you combine his work ethic , his physical talents, his personality, and his history , hes got the makings to be a very good NBA player. He doesnt turn 20 until December and will still be 19 in the draft, excellent prospect in my books. He was a freshman that led Kentucky to one of the top seeds in the country, while doing that on a team that had 5 players jump to the NBA the previous year. He has done a pretty good job filling John Wall's shoes, and I would argue has had less to work with. He consistently dominates at his level in every competition , that is something that I really like about him.

There seems to be confusion about Knight's age. Several websites including D/X have his birthdate as Dec 2, 1992, making him only 18. While I've seen his birthdate as Dec 2, 1991 on another.

Agreed. The quote about his work ethic from Calipari was just one more thing that made me think PG Demar Derozan and BC pick

By the way, I LOVE the defensive potential and him and Demar together. They have size, strength, quickness and commitment. That could be one of the best guard defensive duos in the league which is what we need

This is what I imagine BC's thought process will be

Right now I'm thinking if we're #1 or #2 and Irving is still there, BC easily takes Irving - if we're somewhere between #2 and #6 and Harrison Barnes is on the board, BC takes Harrison Barnes - and if we're #5 or #6 and Irving and Barnes are gone, BC takes Knight. I see him staying away from Kanter and Valanciunas, staying away from Kemba and Fredette, and staying away from Sullinger and Williams because he wants to keep Davis and Amir in their PF spots. So he'll go for Irving, Barnes or Knight.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change
