Hell, Ron Artest DID score... He even dunked... And this is a guy who doesn't even jump when he shoots anymore.

So I'm not sure what that proves.

I hate when he does that. Howerer he was pretty aggressive in that game. Besides his poor shooting he had 11 rebounds 11 assissts and 7 steals.

Why does anyone bother going to the rim at all. Everyone should just shoot 3's from halfcourt since there are no defenders to contest there.

It's not that there were defenders there, it's that he was setting himself up for a bad layup attempt because either a) he was thinking pass-first assuming someone was behind him which slowed him down and hurt his momentum going to the basket or b) he just lost control of the ball a little bit while dribbling down the court. Maybe both. Both ARE his fault but it's just highly exaggerated in this thread.

It's also the fact that it's Rondo. He's a small guy who's vulnerable to getting blocked, especially when 2 guys are creeping up behind him, and he was having a bad game. He could have pretty likely either gotten blocked or fouled, and he's very bad at free throws.

Like I said, if someone actually WAS open behind him and they hit a shot/layup/dunk, this wouldn't even be talked about. It's just the way Rondo plays, he's PASSIVE. Yeah sometimes a little too passive but not some stat padder or a coward.

If you're thinking pass first when you're 30 feet away from the rim, no one is within 7 feet of you, and no one is inbetween you and the rim, then you're making the wrong basketball play. That cannot be over exaggerated. And add to the fact that he has a history of doing it...you should well know why the reaction is the way it is in this thread.

It is without a doubt the wrong basketball play. Slowing down to pass the ball when no one is inbetween you and the rim can't be defended. It's wrong.

A guy called Wiggy is not going to make that happen. Call him King Wiggins, A-Wolf or whatever.

He should have went for the lay-up but I'm sure he saw something that made him change his mind. He doesn't look to score, that sometimes hurts his team, but overall, I'm sure the Celtics are satisfied with him getting 12 assists a game.

& I'm a huge Bulls/Rose fan, and even I'm getting sick of the fanboys bringing him into every thread possible.

Meh not really if you're expecting your teammate to be there and don't feel like you have enough momentum going forward. I'm not saying it's the right play but it can be overlooked because of what he is (a definite pass-first PG) and some of the factors here (he lost some momentum with his dribbling, he's been hurt, he was having an off game and two guys were closing in on him [he's bad at free throws]). He must have expected someone to be there for the easy dunk/layup/jumpshot behind him and if there WAS someone there this decision making actually would be overlooked and probably considered a nice play on top of that. Stat padding, "being scared", etc. are obviously exaggerations here.
