He is our best post up player. We just need to make him only focus on that. Dont let him dribble, and only let him occasionally shoot.

Arguably he is, and sometimes this fact makes me want to commit suicide for supporting such a team with this sad bunch of "Big Men".

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
Resident experts around here tell us BC signed Kleiza for the explicit purpose of tanking. (ie. Q: why did he sign Kleiza? A: we're not planning to compete for a few years and we want low draft picks).
So really, he's inconsequential.

I wonder if there wasn't more to that report from Europe where Klieza faulted Raps medical staff for not taking his concerns more serioulsy, as he hasn't been around the team at all. He refuted the report, and we haven't heard from him since.

Pretty pathetic on how we find ourselves in these injury/insurance situations with so many players. Bryan really has some work to do with the medical staff. Reggies foot, Barbosa not getting surgery, Calderons infamous hamstring, are nagging injuries that should've been adressed a lot earlier. Don't really see the trainers having a good impact on the groups health.

Kleiza outplayed Childress in Europe and Childress is doing decent for Phoenix. Kleiza's been injured since our first pre-season game, the one where he owned the Suns...so I'm hoping good things from him next year.

I REALLY REALLY hope he's not starting for us next season
. I don't mind him as a bench player but no way is he a starter in this league.

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
The reality is that Kleiza got injured in the pre-season. The injury was aggravated throughout the year. So if you're evaluating Linas on his 2011-2012 performance, then you're essentially judging an athlete who was not playing at full health.
And yes, Kleiza had microfracture surgery, which is one of the most serious operations for NBA players. He probably will miss all of 2011 next year... probably will be good to go in January/February. Give props to Kleiza for playing hurt though.
A lot of you guys overly criticize Kleiza. Even if you judge hin through playing hurt, I think a change of scenery would benefit Linas. Toronto's offense system is too dependent on 1-on-1 basketball. There's no ball movement whatsoever. Kleiza is not a playmaker and that is a weakness of his. In Toronto he tries to be a playmaker though. I think he would fit better on a team like Utah or so forth... a team that moves the ball and where he can get his offense off screens. Him being a back-up on a contending team > going nowhere on a 20-53 future-less Raptors.

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
I wanted to give Kleiza his shot back when we signed him and thought he could be a nice bench player for us moving forward but in hindsight, this turned out to be a wasted signing for us.
Not because he got injured but because his style just seems out of place with this roster. We're moving into more of an athletic lineup with two way potential and Kleiza is more of a plodding SF who likes to post up in the halfcourt.
Luckily his contract isn't too big or too long to be a burden and who knows, maybe he carves out a niche on this team next year.
If we draft a SF though then he might just be the odd man out with James Johnson looking like a decent bench prospect.

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
Our joker of a GM signed Kleiza to be the #1 scorer, to take pressure off of Bargnani. As it turned out, Bargs was more than capable of being the #1 scorer, and Kleiza suddenly had no role on the team. He didn't sign here to be a fringe player. Or a spot up shooter, or a playmaker. He thought he'd have his own NBA team, no different than him being "the man" on his national team.

If Kleiza thought he was going to be "the man" on this team then he's on crack.
If you think BC brought Kleiza to be "the man" on this team then you are on crack.

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
I still think he can be useful in his Denver role here on this team. The fact is, shooting at the 3 spot is sorely lacking. He'll be needed. I did find it amusing how motivated he came to play against Denver and what a game he had in comparison to the stinkers he put up before. It's amazing how NBA players need motivation to go out and play well on a night to night basis.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I definitely got the feeling BC thought Kleiza could at least be 2nd option on the Raptors. There were many posters saying he could be a 15ppg scorer on our team.
