The Lakers are planning to sign free-agent guard Trey Johnson for backcourt depth in light of Steve Blake’s indefinite absence with the chicken pox.
Johnson, 26, was with the Lakers in training camp and averaged 25.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League this season. Johnson is 6-foot-5 and more of an off guard but does have ball-handling skills. He shot 32.2 percent on 3-pointers for Bakersfield yet is considered a good shooter from long range.
The Lakers could use Kobe Bryant, Shannon Brown or Lamar Odom as stopgaps at lead guard behind starter Derek Fisher while Blake is out. Luke Walton would also be in line for an increased role, even if small forward Matt Barnes’ balky right knee is OK.
i like those averages, haha. don't remember anything about him, but he did play in 7 games for the raptors this yr.
