Despite everything we are hearing about Sarver's Suns bleeding money and Phoenix being a small market team despite having 4.3 million in the metro area Sarver is still earning money.
Forbes list the Suns has the 11th highest valued franchise despite a 45% debt to value ratio, a drop to "only" $20 million in operating income, & a drop in attendance by 4%.
Sarver's average operating income the past five seasons only trails that of Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, & Houston.
Just to fuel the Sarver fire - "Cutting office staff by 10%, getting under the luxury tax and being on the receiving end of the collected taxes which is split amongst the teams under the tax, Gentry and Blanks are among the lowest paid coaches and G.M.s & having players like Lawal, Siler, & Dowdell who all earn under $1 million this year all keep Sarver in the black.
That is why he really wanted to make the playoffs, to add $2 million per playoff game to his revenue. Overall the Suns are still worth $7 million more than when he bought them.
Bottom line is Sarver is a business man first and he isn't "losing" money with the Suns, he just isn't making as much as he was five seasons ago."
