I just don't see a scenario where we'd get fair value for him. If someone comes up to us and offers us a money deal that's one thing, but I don't we should be pursuing trading him.
A better plan is to try to reup Young, then trade Speights or Williams or our pick this year for a half decent center. That with Turner and Holiday's development should get us a lot better.
Look at the situation this franchise is in with the cap. You're not getting too much of a fair deal with anybody making big money on this roster. Gotta take the lumps and suffer some for the greater good. I know that is a weird, kooky concept around this board.
Because many are cool with winning 43 games and getting smacked in the first round year after year after year.
Let me get this out of the way. I believe that it's for the best that Iggy does move on...however I believe that we should look for the best possible deal in doing so.
IIRC you stated in another thread that we are in the same spot we were for the Mo Cheeks teams. I don't believe this to be the case. That team was led by Andre Miller and Young Iggy. The only other Youth was Thad Young ( and Carney lol) Those two really wasn't part of the core behind that "run". This time the run was propelled by Jrue, Lou, and Thad. So the core this time is actually young and not led by Miller. So taking a step back by trading Iggy would stunt their growth more than it helps IMO. I'd try to trade Iggy to ADD to that core right away not just dump his salary. That would be counterproductive due to Brand's hefty contract being on the team still.
The way I see it, we cannot tank because we don't want to ruin the young core we have right now by stunted their growth. Getting cap space is cool but let's be honest....does any superstar want to really come here? So it's in our best interest to try to build from within. Let's see what Turner can do wit ha year under his belt..Let's see if Jrue can take that next major step...Let's see if Thad can add more to his game.
This may not work but it's more than worth a shot to see..because it's not exactly the same as it has been.
