Haha that could be wrongly interpreted by someone who doesn't understand rugby.
Believe me I wish I could fly to that other Northern hemisphere to watch some Pacers games!

I would really like to know what coaches the Pacers are looking at.
If I am choosing between Mark Jackson and Vogel, I'd go with Vogel because he is now more proven and he showed that he can coach. Jackson would be a big gamble.

I also like the idea of Vogel plus experienced assistants.

if you don't enjoy the games, why are you here? please don't take this as a personal attack. I'm genuinely interested in understanding why someone who doesn't like NBA basketball would choose to be a regular contributor to a team forum and what someone who doesn't watch the games would base their opinions upon.

I said that attending the games is not enjoyable hence the references to the atmosphere, halftime/timeout entertainment, etc. It was very clear in my post. Personally I dont want to spend alot of money on attending a game with little to no beneficial/enjoyable difference compared to me watching it at home/with friends for "free".

I didnt take your post as a personal attack, rather you misunderstanding/not reading my full post.

so you intended to convey that you prefer to watch the games on TV than in person? okay. I don't see that in this message but perhaps I'm forgetting past messages you wrote that would have put this message into a bigger context.

I'm just the opposite. I'd much rather watch a game in person maintaining a running dialog with my friends than to sit at home listening to the talking heads. I do agree, however, that the halftime/timeout entertainment is background noise that adds no value for me. truth is I enjoyed the games the most back when my son was in junior high and earlier still when I used to take his older sister. taking family changes everything for the better.

Impressive.

I watched an Australian football game the other day, and they played on a huge round field. Also it seemed like some of the passes went forward instead of lateral or behind. I thought that was illegal.

In America we just borrow a football or soccer field.

Ha. Yeh you can kick it any way you'd like. It's a great game to watch, I go most weeks. Also, just for the record, a few of the Pacers-Bulls series of the late 90's (sorry I had to bring them up) were heavily screened in Australia at the time, and so the Pacers became well-known. Personally, I watched the game when Reggie Miller scored 57 against Charlotte in '92 at age 4 and was hooked.

*stumbles in to the thread late, hungover, and dishevelled*

I'm originally from country Victoria where AFL (australian football) is king, queen and any other superlative you care to name. During winter it is the focus, especially in smaller towns, funnily enough it's probably easily compared to the way small towns and high school basketball is/was in rural Indiana. Basically New South Wales and Queensland are rugby states, and the rest of the country is aussie rules. The two games are very different, most foreigners I've met assume AFL is some local version of rugby for some reason :dontknow:  .

And jarryd is spot on about the 90s, basketball and the NBA in particular was a lot bigger here then, I became a Reggie fan watching the (I think) 94 playoffs when I was 10. :offtopic:

As for Vogel, I'm not sure if he is the best available, but for various reasons other people have spelled out I think he is certainly amongst the (presumed) front runners for the job.

Well I think it was the same playoff series (94) that got me hooked on the Pacers too. Was a massive Reggie fan and till this day love the Pacers.
NBA was big down under in the 90s, but died off a bit here in the early 2000s. but in the last couple years ive noticed it getting bigger and bigger here and we now get 2-6 games live a week here.
Although we only got 2 Pacers games during this season I think :( doh!

Well now I know there are a few Aussie Pacers fans here, we might have to catch up for one of our games next yeaR!!!

Hopefully will be in Cincinnati for a couple weeks in Novemnber this year, so will def try to get to at least 1 home game, Anyone got a spare courtside ticket?? hehe

Oh and AFL and rugby a massively different games, not really sure how to describe AFL (Aussie rules) But it is an awesome game to play and watch! You USA boys should check out a game on the net.

Do you mean on OneHD, I used to get ESPN via foxtel but it was way too expensive. The only regular season game I saw was the big win in Philly (and I have a recording if you wanted it btw).
