RHODEY wrote:My wife and I are Thor fans from the comics. She (wifey) even pre ordered tickets for the 12:00am first showing last week but we backed out. She had fears (based on trailers) that the movie would flop and didn't want to take that chance and be disappointed. At the time I didn't care because I had to get up early for work the next day.

At this point however I kinda want to give it a shot. My boy ( who is an action flick junky) saw it and loved it. Honestly he 's not to big on plots but still I'm thinking it might be worth a shot.

Has anybody here seen it, and if so what are your thoughts?

i liked it. it was good, not great, which is just about what I expected. and if you are a thor fan i think you will especially like it. sif and the warriors three barely got any screen time though, they were really thrown in there for the fans. volstagg in particular, the way they portrayed him was very true to the comic, even though to me it was a little strange having ray stevenson play him. Hawkeye is in it, although only briefly in order to introduce him before his bigger role in the Avengers. the special effects are goddamn boss. very, very boss. the writing can be a bit weak some times but it's a super hero movie, it is what it is. the humor was, thankfully, not too campy, which I thought it was going to be going into it. i know you and your wife probably are concerned about this too, because there was basically no humor in the comic... not that i remember anyway. there is a funny easter egg style nod to donald blake. also, be sure to stay for the post-credits scene, it's a lead-in to the Avengers.

I heard about this but never thought any kid would be dumb to do it. I don't even want to imagine what it's like to have maggot slithering in your nose. You can't even blow em out(pause). Ugh see what you did! Now I'm all checking my nose.

It's not as good as the first Iron man, but it's close to the 2nd one. Most of Marvel movies suck, Thor didn't, so it's worth watching it. On the other hand, Captain America will be sooo bad. i can't believe people are hyping it up.

high school is tough. I'm ok with it now, but I do get down at times and wish it was better. It sucks that if you aren't in a certain clique, you aren't considered "cool"

Mecca wrote:I hate my life so ********* much. 17 is supposed to be the prime of life, and I am just not enjoying this sh*t at all. I want out. Family problems, friend problems, girl problems... Dear Lord can I live? I control everything that I can to the max. My grades, clothes, fitness, is the only **** I can control. Everything else BLOWS. And when I get older, life only gets worse. If I can't enjoy my youth, what the **** do I have? I just sit down and cry every day, and think. I'm done with this sh*t.

I hangout with the same 8-10 doofs every week and do nothing. All we do is complain about our lives, make fun of people because their lives are superior, and we're jealous, and play handball.

The girl I love is playing me like a fiddle. It's over with her. The polar opposite of what I thought would happen happened.

My fam life is a little more personal...

I have nothing to live for, and life is just so stale for me. I thought this girl was the way out, guess not.

I drop all of my money on clothes that only get worn to school, and improving my appearance, I study crazy for a 90 average, and live in the gym. All I have to live for I guess. J Cole might be the only thing that makes me happy right now... and the BAT's as well.

I am 33 and my life couldn't be better. I've got money and I do things now that I could have never done at 17 or 21 or 25. I still go out and have a great time like if I were 25 and, here in the city, noone cares. I am also so much more comfortable with who I am that I do not care what anyone thinks like hen I was 17 I do me and **** the rest. You are not even close to eing in the prime of your life.

No matter what problem you have, there's ALWAYS somebody who would BEG for the problems you're having. You know my problems too, Mecca. It's life, and it's up to you to try and make it better for yourself.

I thought it was just OK. It was like watching a theater. They had only three sets or so for the whole movie. You expect more from a movie like this. Characters were super shallow. Motives are not well-defined. It lacked a true fight scene. It really felt like Ironman 2 without all the charm.

If 17 is supposed to be ones prime, than humanity is in trouble. Also 17 is not a tough time, those times come, when your problems matter.

The scene at the end of the credits was awesome. Took my breath away when they opened up the briefcase.

My Marvel studio rankings
Iron Man
Thor
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

Overall Marvel movie Rankings
Iron Man
Xmen 2
Spiderman 2
Thor
Xmen
Spiderman
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

ALL CRAP BELOW
HULK
WOLVERINE
Both Fantastic Four movies
Ghost Rider
Daredevil
XMEN 3
SPIDERMAN 3

So Thor was right up there with the best Marvel films IMO. And if you can avoid the 3D I would do so. It didn't really add anything besides $5 to the ticket price.

LOL Yessir and she reminds me ....ALL THE TIME

That's ok. That's good. If I had a girl like that, I'd want her to remind me all the time just in case I got some stupid ideas in my head which would screw things up. lol

Trust me, there aren't too many of "them" out there. It makes me very happy to see a member of my team find one ... just to remind me that some are still out there.

Thanks Brotha appreciate the kind words. Funny thing is she's an army brat originally from Texas, it was slim pickings for me a while before I met her. I got her into basketball back when the Knicks last made the finals. Since she's from Texas she's always been Mavs fan and I can tell you she's going bananas now!
