guy is slow slow slow but awesome rebounder and efficient scorer can be had for 1mln/ the next Marcin Gortat? the Iranian Reaper? plus fun "who's your" haddadi jokes.

and according to basketballvalue.com, "Utah gives up 97.53 points per 100 possessions when he's on the floor … and 109.78 when he isn't." That's huge D upside for prob 1mln/

or, how about drafting:

Giorgi Shirmondini in Rd 2? 7'1" 250 22yo
Guy was gonna be a top 10 pick in 2008 at age 19 (Jonas anyone?) . . . he's now a whopping 22 years old and available unguaranteed in rd 2.

Really don't like Haddadi, and Fesenko is not the kind of player they want on this team as Silas wants to increase the tempo and execute fast breaks. Better figure out why a 7'1" kid is only projected as the 67th best player in a weak draft before you snatch him in the 2nd, but I understand the idea of taking a flyer there.

There's also Cunningham who would be better suited at PF in a fast system. We need a center but we're not going to find what we need through this draft unless we can grab Kanter or take a risk on Jonas/Montie/Bismack. We need to make decisions:

Which position does Cunningham play going forward? Do we even bring him back?
Do you consider moving Tyrus Thomas to SF? Can he handle the position? Do you move him to keep him healthy (Gerald Wallace).
Do we bring Kwame back? If not, then we obviously have to address center in the draft. If we do, we can address more pressing needs with our first-round selections.
Are we set on DJ/Hendo/Tyrus going forward?

I still think the back-court is the most pressing need. Livy showed signs of light but he's banged up a lot. He didn't live up to expectations last season. I don't think Matt can handle the chucker role every game. I'm not concerned about our defense but I would like for us to score more than 94 ppg next season.

Gray as Kwame backup is an idea I like. And keep throwin D-leaguers and other guys at them till we find a diamond in a rough. If not, no big deal we are rebuilding,.

yes. i'm not saying i think gray, or esp haddadi or fesenko are great, but that theyre just right for us right now. cheap huge bodies with potential upside - 24/25 is still young for a C - and cheap (again). plug em in for a year if they dont work helps us with better draft position in 12-13; meanwhile we save capspace/rosterspace (as opposed to 4 yr oblig. rookie contract) to target transformational player

The only one on your list that I would have any interest in at all is Thompson - and even then it would be extremely limited.

I'd take a long look at Arthur. He's been playing some solid ball this year. Really fills that Taj Gibson role well.

I totally agree SWEDD, I like the idea of getting undervalued players that have been in the system a while but for whatever reason it has failed to work out. These young 'vets' could really help our team & would improve chemistry as they will know that they are on a team that wants them & have a real opportunity to crack the rotation.

Any interest in James Johnson round here. I think dude is a fine player, definitely starting caliber, but just never got any consistent minutes in Chicago for some reason. Anyone know why he wasn't getting any minutes in Chicago? Does he have weight issues, too lazy...he reminds me of a younger Boris Diaw, could he be what Diaw could've been, or is he likely heading down the same path?

Scuttlebutt in Chi was that he was too mistake prone for Thibs intense demand for perfection. Could do goofball stuff lots of mental errors.
In the 25 games he started for the Raptors at small forward, he averaged 9.2 points per game on 46% shooting.
Great size for SF will be good rebounder/shot blocker at that position.
I like James Johnson but so do the Raptors I think they're planning on him being their starting SF next season.
