Not really. Irving is clearly the better prospect by far. I love Derrick Williams, but a scoring forward and scoring point guard don't combine to become better value than a true playmaking PG that can also score. For instance let's take best case scenario for all 3 players. Would you rather just have Chris Paul or would you rather have Carmelo Anthony and Mo Williams? Brandon Knight had 159 assists and 120 turnovers, the guy doesn't project as a true PG or anything extraordinarily special like CP3.

Damn, I wrote all of that above and didn't even realize than Kanter's name is stuck at the end of that statement. :o YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND BUDDY!

Kemba Walker to play 2 any thoughts?

Beasley off the bench as the sixth man of the year
Trade our trash (any combo of Flynn, Darko, Pek, Wayne, Martell and 20) for the best Center we can get hopefully Bogut

I'd imagine he'd get annihilated on defense

So you're saying he's perfect for the Wolves, then?

Kyrie Irving was asked if he has any desire to go to Minnesota and everyone, including Irving, started laughing..

He ended up saying "Any organization I go to, i'll end up being happy."

I love those type of questions. Do the top players ever want to go to lottery teams? Are they supposed to look forward to losing?

Yeah, those questions are asked to basically crap all over a town/franchise.

Here is the whole Kyrie Irving interview, which is 12 minutes long.

The question about Minny is at 10:40 of the video:

Interestingly persuasive. And yes, that is a pretty jumpshot. Plays with passion, too.

Kanter backers, would you rather have Kanter and Love or Cousins and Love? Basically I'm wondering how Kanter compares to Cousins.

TPE can be used by the team to absorb a contract, but they cannot be dealt to another team. Correct?

Could (hypothetically)

Cle
Out-4th pick, TPE (to absorb Iggy)
In- 2nd pick

Philly
Out-Iggy
In-Cap+ minor compensation

MN
Out-2nd
In- 4th and Iggy

So Clev uses the cap to bring in Iggy's contract?

Or could we just cut Clev out and offer Philly a cap friendly situation for Iggy?

No, this would not work. Since we have only about 1 mil of cap left and no significant TPE we would have to 125% match any salary we would take on in a draft day trade. Cleveland could use its big TPE to take on Iggy for the #4, but that TPE cannot be moved to another team.

Iggy has a 2010 cap figure of $12,345,250. We would have to send out at least 9,796,200 in any trade bringing him to Minnesota before a new CBA is hammered out (next cap year). That would have to include Webster, Darko or Pek, and Hayward or Ellington at a minimum.

if you are formulating Iggy to Minny trades you have to come up with at least 9,796,200 using a comination of:
Michael Beasley 4,962,240
Martell Webster 4,800,000
Darko Milicic 4,325,000
Nikola Pekovic 4,275,000
Luke Ridnour 4,000,000
Wesley Johnson 3,726,600
Johnny Flynn 3,192,000
Anthony Tolliver 2,200,000
Anthony Randolph 1,965,720
Wayne Ellington 1,078,800
Lazar Hayward 1,020,960

Those guys, plus Kevin Love, are our players whose salaries are tradeable on draft day (Rubio would count as Zero salary).

How about #2, Martell, Pek, and Flynn for Iguodala/Speights. That one works.

Danny Granger has a 2010 salary of $10,973,202.
We'd need to send out 8,698,561. So something like #2/Pek/Flynn/Hayward.

This is the downside to the curry/randolph trade that I was warning you guys about at the trade deadline. We lost all cap flexibility for any draft day trades. I think Randolph is probably more valuable than that raw cap space, but any team giving us the big salaried youngish veteran we are targeting is not only going to have to take salary back, but probably take on at least 3 guaranteed contracts. For the Lakers that might not be a problem. For Philly/Indy/Milwaukee there is significant downside to that.

Just say no to Kanter. He is undersized (Reported standing reach of 9'0 is extremely short for a C) and unathletic, although he does have a nice jump shot. Don't we already have an All-Star PF who fits that description?

If McHale were still here he'd be in love with him.

What about that blurb makes you excited? And I wouldn't worry I suppose, there's no chance that the Cavs will pass up Irving for Williams.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but, if the absolute incredible happens and Cleveland picks Williams at the no. 1 pick and we follow up with Irving, what should we do with Rubio? Run him off the bench, trade him? Discuss.
