The guy who created this doomsday theory is actually on record as saying that God left the churches in 1988 and was replaced by Satan. I don't think he's trying to get people to go to church lol. I think he's just a nutty old man who really and truly believes this stuff for some reason. Its kind of scary. If you go on his website he says things like "now that the bible has revealed the date of the <Noah's> flood..." without ever giving any kind of insight into where it says that in the bible. The people who follow this guy are ridiculous. If they bothered to read the bible, they'd know that half the stuff his citing as being biblical doesn't exist.
Also, fun fact: The bible says that no even Jesus will know the time or date of Judgement day. So Jesus doesn't know but Harold Camping does? Bit presumptuous, no?
