I like Valanciunas more, the more video of him that I see. Long, athletic, finishes strong above the rim. Still needs to get stronger, but the potential and the understanding of the game are there. I see Biedrins with a better shot and without the mental issues. Plus I think he is a perfect fit with a PG like Rubio in an uptempo offense.
I'm putting him a solid #3 on my board (and the first player I'd take and keep instead of looking for value in a trade). The gap between Jonas in Kanter in length, athleticism, and competition faced the past 2 years is huge. Whomever said Scola with Kanter is right, that is his upside, as a high-post PF, he is not a C, and he's an awful fit with Love and Rubio.
How about this:
MN Trades:
W. Johnson, Pekovic, Flynn, #2 (D. Williams)
MN Receives:
Iguodala, #4 (Valanciunas), 2013+2015 MIA 1sts.
PHI Trades:
Iguodala, Nocioni
PHI Receives:
W. Johnson, J. Flynn
CLE Trades:
#4 (Valanciunas), 2013+2015 MIA picks.
CLE Receives:
#2 (D. Williams), Pekovic, Nocioni
Cleveland uses its big TPE to facilitate an Iggy to Minny trade, giving Philly 13 mil in 2011 cap savings to go with Wes and Flynn. They might even prefer Pek as they are in need of a C who can bang.
They get the best piece in the trade, so naturally they give up the most. But Gilbert has shown with the Baron trade that he is willing to take on salary to acquire young talent, and Irving/Williams is a nice start. There isn't any talent/picks on CLE's roster that would sway me to drop from 2 to 4, but using their TPE to acquire a guy like Iggy would.
For Philly, they get Wes, open up minutes for Turner, Meeks, and Young, and open up Cap Room to make a run at a FA Center whenever the lockout lifts.
For Minny, we get Iggy for Wes and a trade down from 2 to 4, and can stash Valanciunas overseas for a year if we want, and dump our salary obligations to Flynn and Pek.
Rubio/Ridnour
Iguodala/Ellington
Beasley/Webster
Love/Tolliver
Darko/Randolph/(Valanciunas).
