i guess i just took that as meaning it was more of a mentality thing than an available exercise thing. not really sure why i took it that way.

So I'm getting really burned out on my current menu and I was hoping you guys would have some more food recommendations. The catch is that I don't cook. The most I can/will do is bake or grill some chicken breasts or salmon steaks. I don't have a cache of spices or seasonings either. I just eat that stuff as is.

Well you're a beast if you're dipping or pulling +150. I'd get bored with sticking to just that though.

With a set of dumbells and a bunch of bodyweight exercises there are hundreds of things you can do. I love my home gym! As to the 150 pounds that's just what fits on the belt. :D I've only been doing dips for a few months but 150 should be a fun goal that'll take a while.

Edit: Got week 5 day 1 beat on the third attempt. 100 push ups here I come.

What made no sense to me was you saying people have other goals than getting huge which implied the only people who need to go to the gym as opposed to working out at home are people with the goal of getting huge. Most people in the gym are trying to lose weight, so I don't get why you even said "everyone doesn't want to get huge."

This isn't productive though, it's obviously a personal preference thing. If you enjoy working out at home and get results then hey, right on. I just prefer the variety of the gym. And the girls in shorts...the truth comes out. :D

Rotisserie chicken, Already cooked, should provide a few quality protein meals and only like 6 bucks.

Let's bump this to get on top of mind. Saying in shape this week with some biking runs and home exercises.

Brown bagging it and I think I have a great lunch. I get pita pouches, slice of white cheese, and turkey. Put it in the toaster oven at work for a bit. Seems like it is full of protein, low on calories, and only fat from the cheese. Am I on the right track with that type of lunch?

The whole argument started when I said I prefer to workout out a home. You then asked how people can work out at home. Thus my explanation. I never said people only go to the gym to get huge, I just said I'm not worried about getting huge, thus don't need a ton of heavy weights. You missed understood what we are saying. People who want to get huge NEED the gym. People who want to get in shape don't necessarily need the gym, and there are other ways around it. Yes, the gym may have some machines that would make me more efficient, but the negatives out weigh the positives for me. (I mean, how can you lift when you have a rager after staring at the treadmills full of girls for too long?) I was merely saying the home gym was adequate for me and my goals. We both understood people go to gym for various reasons, but you don't need a gym for a healthy lifestyle.

We're having a health week or something here at work. Screenings for cholesterol level and other issues. When you walk in there's free fruit sitting out. Yet our cafeteria continues to be a beacon of terrible food. On the menu this week was pizza, burgers, meatball subs and nachos. Sides of fries and onion rings. Beer cheese soup. It's ridiculous.

That said, the salad bar is pretty awesome and it's only $1.

I'm nursing some really sore legs right now. Tuesday I decided to add squats to my weight routine. Was so sore yesterday I had to skip my run. Working up the courage to move around for today's weights, minus the squats.

I am also nursing sore legs. I did an intense 45 minute plyo leg session on Friday and it kicked my ass. I basically just watched a bunch of YouTube videos and then created a whole routine of my own. I need to start doing it more. Great for the legs and and great cardio.

Gotta do it when its warm out here though, the winters suck something fierce. Not that its been warm, what was it, 45 degrees all of April, maybe one day in the 80's in May?

After 3 fails on Week 1 Day 3, I finally did it and then did Week 2 Day 1 on the first attempt before failing Week 2 Day 2 on the first attempt. Came up just short by a few reps on the final set.

I guess this leads me to a big question regarding weight training that maybe some of you can answer. I do 3 sets of 10 (same weight for each set) of each lift, with 60 seconds between each set, and no more than 2 minutes in between each exercise. My question is, doesn't increasing the weight and reps on my earlier exercises affect my ability to increase my weight and reps on my later exercises, therefore making it difficult to gauge whether I am making progress? As an FYI here are my exercises on my weight training days in order:

100 Push Up program
200 Sit Up program
Flys
Leg lifts
Bicep Curls
Tricep skull crushers
Shrugs
Barbell upright row
