Still not a fan from UTH's side. They just got a boatload of futures for their star and now they're going to go for a vet/young pup mix? Eh, seems like a rudderless ship there. And they do this to pair perhaps the worst deep shooting back court in the NBA? Even worse. At least the WASH deal yields a 2nd young player (I booted the idea of Young in the other paragraph of my original post...) to continue to build with the core of futures they got with the Deron deal. This deal just leaves them in limbo - good enough to make a run @ the playoffs, not good enough to do anything if they got there.corwin wrote:This was dropped on either the Philly Board on RealGm or one of the other Philly sites. Seems to me that Utah might get a better deal for the #3 pick but I don't know if they value the #6 pick or Nick Young all that much. This trade would leave Utah with Favors, Jefferson, Milsap, Hawes, Iggy, CJ Miles, Harris, Meeks, Gordon Hayward, & Raja Bell as their team. A nice mix of young guys and young veterans. Not bad. Also, Utah & Philly are frequent trade partners.
Personally, if I was UTH, I'd stand pat in the draft and take "my" guy. I'd even talk to MIN about moving up a slot if the guy was Williams. Either way, I would look to make the splash at the deadline by shopping Harris and (hopefully a healthy) Okur. Even on a deadline whiff, I still go into next off-season with enough cap room to make a splash and enough young kids to catch someone's attention.
