Obviously this has everything to do with John Wall, but there is more to it than that. I think there is a different vibe with the new owner, and, although it sounds silly to say, I actually do think that the new uniforms might make a bit of a difference.
I really think that this is an important offseason. If we can capitalize on this momentum, moving up in the draft for Kanter or Williams, we may really be the apple of the eye of many a free agent. Dwight?
Also, why is everybody so on Leonard's jock. No one on this board ever brought him up as a potential top 10 pick until he started to get some burn on ESPN just prior to the combine. Leonard is a bit longer than Singleton, and a bit younger, but not nearly the athlete and not nearly the defender. Singleton was every bit as important to his team as Leonard to his, and is clearly the more versatile prospect. Am I the only one that would rather have Singleton than Leonard?
Its called a long term planning and that comes along with a quality owner.
New owner. That leads to better GM performance.
New uniforms is a small piece but it does help to show you turned the page.
Getting Wall and getting rid of Gil was a huge step.
Not jumping to soon on larger contracts was also very important.
Next the plug one or two more holes and keep going. We will all know more about what the team will look like after the new CBA FA class is available.
Needs in order:
A center post player rebounder who can defend the paint to help as McGee grows into a finished product. We simply have to have more at defensive center. McGee may one day still be a force there but we need more than just him. We need to invest in his insurance. I think next time McGee plays we are all going to be saying wow though. I mean that in a good way. Next year he plays should be a break out year. He should finally be stronger and know how to use it.
A slasher finisher who can also defend. Booker is a good start. Man he has leaps but we need another player like this. I believe he is going to look a lot better next time he plays and that is saying something because he was really coming along to end the year before he got hurt.
Outside pure shooter. They can't move forward with only Nick being a pure shooter.
Justin is the perfect fix for this role. And he may even be able to get better as a slashing finisher.
A pure shooter is really going to help this team because they will help open things up for Wall, Booker and the other slashing player(s)
