Not a bigger need than a big man. Fields was a very good SG for us last season. Some of you guys really annoy me with some of the things you say ( not specifically talking about you truwwarrior).
Like people are throwing Fields under the bus after his poor playoff performance...seriously c'mon !
the guy was a rookie! jesus freaking christ...
give the guy some time to develop more in those situations...geez

Fields is not really an ideal starting caliber NBA SG (his best position is SF). I could care less about what he did in the playoffs (I've said he's not an ideal SG even early in the season when he was among the top rookies and looking great). The Knicks absolutely could use a SG that can actually either shoot (not just only absolutely when he's open but REALLY shoot) or create shots for himself. Fields doesn't do either (he's a smart player that knows where to be and what do to, rebounds well and hustles). Also just because people don't feel Fields is an ideal SG doesn't mean they are throwing him under the bus. I wouldn't remotely consider trading him for anything short of a lottery pick but he's not really best suited as a SG for this team.

Fine, you saying it this way makes sense. I'm just saying that eventhough Fields being a SF at heart he still did a pretty darn good job playing SG.
Oh well , i guess he will be brought off the bench as our 6th man.

I dont see Fredette dropping down to our pick. Hes too good of a player and too big of a name that I just cant see that many GM's passing up on him. I really have no idea about almost all of these other guys in this draft but I do know that Fradette is going to make a really really solid NBA prospect and I would love to have this guy. His work ethic and shooting stroke are impressive, but what overwhelmed me was listening to his interview and the way this kid talks about the game. Hes destined to be a pro and hes going to be a fine one at that. He may never reach superstar status but hes going to be one of the most dangerous scorers in this league. With or without Stat and Melo I think Fredette will establish himself as a deadly scorer, however the thought of him with our 1-2 combo and our style of play is pretty crazy. One thing that this kid has, and you can tell from the second he touches the ball, is confidence and thats something we lacked from our supporting cast. This kid wont back down and he wont lack confidence in his shot, so when we need somebody other than Stat and Melo to make shots, I think Fradette would do an excellent job of doing just that.

I don't see him falling to us either and honestly, I agree that he's got the mind to become something really great. Great NCAA names have fallen before though, Jameer Nelson comes to mind. If Jimmer falls, I feel like we HAVE to take him and make a move for another pick if we can somehow get Brooks or Thompson as well. Grabbing two pure scorers would be clutch because right now we have our big three and no other great scorers although TD could potentially become one.

whether we get jimmer or elby, i still think we need to get another guard. shumpert's my choice, but he could go anywhere from the 20's to the second round.

Selby is working out today. But with Walsh now gone in an Official Capacity (he's remaining on as a Consultant)...I wonder who is keeping tabs on Selby and on yesterday's and today's workouts. :(

Donnie and Mike (along with Melo and Billups) have attended all workouts and have also worked out guys themselves in camps out in Vegas (Melo and Billups I mean).

I'm interested in hearing what Selby does today. With the slight possibility of Brooks raising his draft stock out of our reach and Klay Thompson being long gone, having more options is always a good thing.

Sadly, the Walsh news might dominate the headlines and we'll likely only hear blurbs about today's workout.

What sucks even more is that I'm guessing hardly anyone focused on Selby today with the news coming down that their Boss is gone.

Heck they reported today in the news that the Scouting Dept. is worried now and in limbo. :(

Even if the Scouts are there. Donnie and Mike aren't there (both physically and mentally). They just got word that their Boss is fired. Many of them are now worrying about their job, and jockeying for their next one.

If this news didn't come down, we'd have a TON of news about the workouts. Just like we did yesterday. Walsh and Mike were there at workouts earlier, before all this crap came out today.

Yeah, you might be right. He could come in and light up the gym, but if everyone is worrying about their jobs (which would be understandable), then his performance takes a backseat to a number of other priorities on their mind. Ah, this day gets better and better for Knicks fans...
