good for them, I don't think perceived discontent from the fanbase (based on nothing but the continent that a player comes from) should stop BC from taking who he feels is the best talent for our team.

Man, I just hope we can get 1 of Irving/Kanter/DWill/Knight. J Val would be my 5th pick if those others go top 4.

5th pick used on J Val ?

Ya, Ballocks took it way too far assuming a player would fail only because he's European.

He was correct in saying it would be an EXTREMELY challenging atmosphere to play in though. No doubt about that.

Fans would change their tune quickly if the player turned out to be good.

I don't think many people will be upset if we take Kanter. Even Val I don't think would elicit that much angst.

Vesely might be a different story.

Vesely would get killed in Raptorland, that's for sure.

It won't matter where they're from as long as they show something on the defensive end or are offensive dynamos. Vesely is neither.

We'll see, I think a lot of people have misperceptions about Euro's ever since we've drafted Bargnani and now they're wear of drafting any more euro's especially if they're a big. you know there's always been jokes going about "no more euro's! " etc.. I really think some of them are serious about that.

I don't even think Vesely would get bashed all that much, since he does play a very aggressive, in your face style of game attacking the rim and dunking... although personally I just don't think he's going to be as valuable a contributor overall as any of the C's or PGs can be, and it would be premature to waste a pick on him when next year's draft (really anywhere in the lottery) is full of significantly better SF prospects (Gilchrist/Miller/Barnes/P.Jones, even other guys like Adonis Thomas, Terrence Jones, LeBryan Nash). I'd feel the same way about drafting Kawhi as well.

If it's true that Vesely plays hard and with toughness, I think it's more likely that he becomes a fan favorite with his dunks.

Only if he's good, though. If we draft him at 5 and he sucks at most things other than dunking, I don't think he'll be all that popular.

Yes, let's use a top 5 pick on a guy who dunks but can't do much of anything else.

Vesely will thrive on a team that has a PG to run with him in transition. Personally, I think he'd be great with Walker running things, because he knows how to get open off backdoor cuts, just how much he moves overall.

Of course, but that goes for every player in the draft. I just don't think he's going to get hated just because of where he's from.

Vesley sounds like Gerald Green. Good at dunking without any other basketball skills. I'd rather keep Bargnani than have Vesley on the team.

EXACTLY...it' pretty much a waste of a pick to draft any SF's this, they're all pretty much inferior to the crop of SF's in next years draft. That would be really bad strategy wise in BC's part and i'm pretty sure he's taking into account in next years draft and who's available prior to making any selections for this years draft.

We don't know if Kanter can play the 5 neither.
I am high on Vesely, but we need to trade 2 of Kleiza/Davis/Amir to make room for him. Maybe then add Bismack for the return.

Vesley or Val are OK if they are drafted with a second 1st rounder. We didn't suffer all year and support tank nation for nothing.

All this Euro fear is a joke. The fans will love/hate a player based on what they see on the floor. For what I read/saw on film, both Jonas and Jan are very intense/high motor players who are both agressive on offense and defense making them both fan favorites for the type of crowd we have. Reggie and Pops were fan favorites in Toronto.

Personnally, my board after the 2 usual suspects is:

Jonas
Knight
Kanter
Vesely

I don't think Vesely would be a good fit for the Raptors unless Amir or Ed Davis is traded. I see him as a combo forward who doesn't have the outside shot to pair him with Demar full-time at the 3 but I think he'll be a nice player.
