Re: Official Trade Thread XVI
^ Interesting. So something like Milsap+12 for Hickson+4? Could make sense if Utah likes Vesely as the next Kirilenko, or if they want Kanter/Valanciunas to replace Okur. Knight at 3 and Kanter/Valanciunas/Vesely at 4 is a pretty good haul IMO.
I don't see TOR doing it since they apparently want to move Bargs to PF.

Re: Official Trade Thread XVI
Milsap's a good solid player. The problem I have with acquiring him is paying around 7 mil each of his remaining 2 contracted years and then having to extend him at probably a raise. He's good to have on your team, but do you want to commit that kind of money to him? I think at this point, it's important to have flexibility.

Yeah.... Milsap is probably just a role player on a really good, contending team. Maybe he's your 5th best starter, or your super sub. Either way, he's not worth paying that much money to while we're still laying our foundation.

Make of that what you will.
Except for me. I'd be happy dumping blatche for a good ham on rye, and I would be OK With Jan...

Speaking of Blatche...couldn't you say the same thing about him? And he's not even as effective of a player as Milsap. Not sure how someone can be against acquiring Milsap but at the same time insist on keeping Blatche.

So if McGee is off of the table, which I hope he isn't, is there another package you guys think we could put together for the #2 pick?

Lots of draft picks. #6 this year and unprotected next year, and perhaps another lower pick.

Re: Official Trade Thread XVI
Who would be interested in Iggy? I would be more than willing to trade the 6th, 18th, Rashard Lewis for him and Nocioni. I'm not sure if this is anywhere close to what the Sixers are looking for, but I think this would improve are team greatly. Unless we think Leonard is going to be as good (I really don't like us going PF/C with all the picks we have used recently).

Sfam, do you think Minnesota would be interested? Would you give up Crawford, #6 and the unprotected pick next year? I have a hard time seeing that tempt the Wolves.

+1
The time to get Millsap was at draft day. He would have been a better selection than Pecherov (and we knew this at the time, a few of us). However, that ship has sailed. At his present contract, Millsap's not a value player any longer.
I would still trade him for Blatche, but that's as far as I'd go.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I wouldn't necessarily mind the money being paid out to Milsap over the next two years specifically, but I definitely am wary of those "oh, by the way, my contract ends at the exact moment when you just know I'm about to fall off, but I can still demand a big extension that I'll never live up to based on my recent production."
I hate that.
Jos' Smiff scares me a little bit that way too, though I'm thinking he might be available for not much pending the CBA if a team can offer Atlanta BIG salary savings, so I've kind of got my eye on that.
In each case, if four year guaranteed contracts are the max and you could formally extend Smiff or Milsap out two more years past when their contracts expire, I like it a lot better than if you actually hit them with four (or five) year deals directly after they expire. As of now and the current CBA, Milsap wouldn't be eligible for an extension as he's only played two years on his deal.
[As an aside, amnesty Rashard and then Blatche and Booker for Smiff and Marvelous if the 2012 draft is going to stink? It's hard on talent for them, but totally rectifies their otherwise near untenable ledger books. You've got to question the ceiling for us, but if the 2012 draft is smashed by the CBA upending one-and-dones and we can't sign Dwight, I don't know what better options there would be. I wouldn't have liked it previously, but Dray floundering and hypothetically having two stale-turd drafts consecutively would alter my thinking].

Re: Official Trade Thread XVI
Im just wondering what you guys think of a couple ideas.
Trade 2012 top 3 protected, pick 18 or 6 (which would be more likely? I'm thinking pick 6)
To Wolves for pick 2.
Where would Williams go in next years draft do we think? Id be happy to get our future Sf out of this.draft instead of the next.
Also who do you guys think has a better offensive game out of mcgee, valanciunus and biyombo?

I'm against acquiring Milsap because I think players like him are limited.
And as for Blatche....i'm not "insisting" that we keep him.
But by the same token, I'm not just giving him away for a 2nd rd pick as you've previously proposed.
Inefficient though he may be, I just happen to think he's a much better player than you do.

Word is that Minnesota wants veterans, so I don't think they would take #6 this year and our 1st next year.
Next year, Williams should be right in the mix for a top 3 to 5 pick with Anthony Davis, Harrison Barnes, James McAdoo, Quincy Miller, Michael Gilchrist, Perry Jones, Brad Beal, and Jared Sullinger. I would expect that he would go behind Davis, but could even still go as high as #2.
Valanciunas is supposed to be pretty solid on the P&R, so I think his offensive game is probably the best, then JaVale, then Biyombo, who is a dunk, short layup, and putback guy. That being said, I think Biyombo might immediately be better than the other two on defense.

How about a six-year veteran C/PF with 20/10 potential and passing skills, along with the #6. You think we could sell that?

Thanks alot for the info mate.
I wouldnt mind seeing us grab Biyombo at 18 but that looks pretty unlikely with the knicks being keen at 17.
I would love us to somehow get Jimeer Fredette aswell, Im sure this fellas game will translate extremely well in the NBA. Be a great back up to Wall.
