Very interesting even tho just speculation by other teams. Bet it is because word got out we already passed on a 2 for 1 trade earlier. Someone we think "might" go before #9, like Twin 1, Singleton... or who we hope to slip to us such as Leonard, Kemba...?

I think the player is probably Bismack. It wouldnt make sense if it was anyone else.....maybe kawhi.

Kawhi was the first name that popped into my head.

So we have a trade proposal on the table with the Rockets???

I agree it must be Walker, as he is the only player that was considered top 5-ish that is sliding close to us (other than the big Euro who won't play this season). I think MJ see's this guy as the kind of leader he wants in a PG (versus DJ's timid approach). If it is Kemba and they take him at 9, I've got to wonder if they deal DJ? Not sure they would but it's always a possibility.

HOUSTON SCENARIO: If they deal down with Houston, I think they believe they can get either Singleton or Vucevic at 14. Their pick would probably be Chris, but I fear Nikola wil be gone by either 16 or 17. At 19, if Vucevic is still there we got a heck of a draft already. At 23 the options are not nearly as good, but it gives us a chance to reach a little for an up and comer like Reggie Jackson or Iman Shumpert. Marshon Brooks could still be there (he's sliding a bit).

I think you are right. If Kemba is there, I think we have to take him. I would then try to package DJ for picks next season. I really like Vucevic at 19 if he is still there. Fingers crossed!

Sounds like any real options for trading up are highly unlikely.

Yeah I'm backing Kemba, not that I'm a fan, I just think the team wants him.

According to Gery Woelfel from journaltimes.com:
There has been widespread speculation the Bucks have had in-depth talks with the Houston Rockets, who have two first-round picks -- Nos. 24 and 23 -- and are desperately trying to move up in an attempt to select a much-needed center.

But it appears discussions between the Bucks and Rockets involve more than just exchanging picks. The scuttlebutt is both teams are receptive to swapping players as well.

The teams have tossed around different trade scenarios with Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova being prominently mentioned.

Previous post was supposed to say I agree and think we are targeting Kemba.

If we do the Rockets trade, for me the best scenario is

#14 Klay Thompson/Marshon Brooks
#19 Nicola Vucevic/Donatas Motiejunas
#23 Tobias Harris

Per Steve Kyler at Hoopsworld this AM:

The Charlotte Bobcats at #9 are said to be considering one of the international big men and could grab Bismack Biyombo or Jonas Valanciunas.

Valanciunas: Word yesterday was that most of the teams in the top ten would shy away from Lithuanian big man Jonas Valanciunas because of the nature of his buyout agreement with Lietuvos Rytas.

According to reports, Valanciunas will remain abroad for at least one more season, meaning he will not be able to play for whatever team drafts him this year and while that's meaningful to some teams, it's not as big an issue to others.

The Cleveland Cavaliers say he is absolutely still in the mix for the fourth overall pick, and the Bobcats at #9 and the Bucks at #10 are all said to be high enough on Valanciunas to take him and simply wait out the process.

The Houston Rockets are also a team said to be high on Valanciunas and would trade up to grab him if a team in the 5 through 10 range wants to part with their pick and allow Houston to move up.

I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt we would be willing to wait on Jonas. The FO is taking one more hard, long look at Bo Bo from the Congo today, and maybe he becomes the guy Wojo is alluding to in the "targeted player they take or trade down" scenario. Possibly they are talking up Jonas V in order to become the key holder for teams wanting to trade up for him (Houston). I think the Rockets want either one of those players.

My fear is Bitchsmack is far too raw to ever significantly contribute at the NBA level. I know the range of opinion on him is all over the map. I just don't think he fits the team's reported concept of "not swinging for the fences" in this draft. I do think they are playing up their interest in both he and Jonas to become the key trading partner tomorrow night.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I don't think this franchise can afford to sit and wait for a year on Valanciunas to come over. We need someone that can help right now, not a year from now.

I think there are 2 players that they want at 9, and if they are not there then they would trade. Those two are Kemba Walker and Chris Singleton. I think them working out Bitchsmack is a diversion to try and draw up interest at 9. Make teams feel like we would take him if he was there so if they really want him they need to trade with US not the Bucks or someone else down the line.

Why?

It's not like we are competing for anything "right now"?

what message are we sending to the fans that we stash a player overseas while the bobcats tank with roster holes big enough to drive a bus though? thats just not going to work

Exactly. This team needs to build a fan base and needs to start winning games. Reality is that even with just the addition of 2 first round picks to this team we could still be in contention for the playoffs. We need players that cane come over NOW so they can go through the rookie learning curve now. Otherwise you can go ahead and push back our "year of contention" another year or two while you wait for someone like Valanciunas to come over and get adjusted to the NBA.

I gotta think if Kemba is there, I bet we take him, and trade him to the Knicks for a king's ransom. NY wants someone like him to play with Amare and Melo. I bet we could get #17, Fields, a 2012 1st AND have them take Matt off our hands. Dolan would do it, especially now that the brains of the organization is gone.

i dont understand the "we need to win now" stuff. this is the absolute perfect time to stash a player overseas. we are not going to be good next year unless jax, dj, tyrus and hendo play out of their collective minds. there is a real chance jax and boris are traded this summer. the lockout threatens to cut the season short. fan support will already be bad for these reasons regardless of who we draft. we arent going to get anyone at 9 who will sell tickets or make us immediately that much better. we also have a chance to add a player at 19 who might have as much impact as anyone we draft at 9. add in the 39th pick who will most likely make the team and we are talking about having 3 rookies on an already young team. using the 9th pick to take jonas and keep in my europe for another year seems like a good idea IF (big giant if) the bobcats like him and think he really can be a solid center in a few years.

I bet you we take Kemba as well, if he is there. No way MJ can resist his temptations. Haha for him it's like walking in a strip club and seeing the most beautiful girl ever....no way he leaves without her.

Anyway I do think that other teams would really value Kemba if we wanted to go that route. We probably could get good value out of him, which would support us trying to build assets. Either way, I think he would be a much needed scoring boost to the bench as a combo guard 6 man.

Interesting Doug Gottlieb on sportscenter had Klay Thompson going to the Bobcats and even speculated Klay Thompson could go inside the top 8, possibly at 6 if the Jazz traded back with the Wiz. He seemed to think the Bobcats REALLY liked what they saw in Klay Thompson but he views Thompson as a SG calling him the only true SG in this class.

One more day...just one more freaking day!!!

Drafting Kemba Walker at 9 would defiantly sell tickets and generate excitement....

I also think that with a full offseason with Silas, some added talent in the form of 2 first round picks, and the team would be better than last year and WOULD contend for the playoffs; which would generate excitement and hope for the future.

Yeah, here in Charlotte the talk has been all about trading up. People around here, including Taylor Zarzour and Marc James think that unless we trade up to get Williams, then this draft is a fail. Marc does have a special fascination with Kemba. It really amazes me how these "fans" and sports talk show "hosts" turn there nose up so easily at 9 and 19 and basically come off as well if they don't get pick 2 and williams, then this team is done and there is no reason to even care or pay attention to them. I do think Kemba might be the one player, outside to top 2, that could change that perception a bit.

stashing a player overseas is only a smart move a year from now.....right now we stink and i am sure everyone would really love to see some player we draft on the court next season

I do not think that we are interested in Biyombo for several reasons.

1. We seem to be very interested in Vucevic even though we have a very large chance of Biyombo being there.

2. If we are looking to trade down. Then the player that we would be allowing teams to jump and take would be Biyombo at 9. Otherwise nobody would want to trade up all the way to 9.

3. He seems like to much of a risk for this team in general. He has no offense and his age is of question.

4. Jordan is in love with Kemba.

Also, I do not think it is Singleton because who ahead of us have expressed interest in him. We seem to be the first team that is considering him and many teams like Kawhi ahead of him.

I think if Kemba and Kawhi are gone before 9 then we trade back with Houston and they grab Biyombo at 9. That Leaves Milwaukee, GS, Utah, and Phoenix before the 14th pick. The main players who would get consideration in this range would be most likely Tristan Thompson, Klay Thompson, Jimmer Fredette, Burks, Brooks, Singleton, Hamilton, Twin 1, Vucevic, and Shumpert. Milwaukees options are Twin 1, Both Thompsons and Burks. Golden State would most likely take Klay if he is available. Utah depending on who they take with first pick could go Jimmer or Singleton. Phoenix most likely go with Jimmer, Shumpert, Tristan or Twin 1. So four players will go after Biyombo is selected and we pick. So worst case scenario would be Klay, Singleton, Burks and Twin 1 are picked. If this did happen we would still be left with Vucevic,Brooks and Hamilton at 14 and hope some good players are available at 19 and 23. Possibly one of those three we dont pick at 14. Honeycutt, Motijunas, and Tobias Harris would be some guys to hope are there for later picks possibly. Then again that is probably the worst case scenario for the trade down.

Best Case would be something like this:
14- Klay or Singleton
19-Vucevic or Hamilton or Brooks
23-Honeycutt or Motijunas.
39-BPA
