figured id see most of this board killing our pick... nothing new there... i see a lot of people regurgitating draft site info and popular conjecture about shumpert... and very few guys posting real analysis...
so let me throw in my two cents... ive watched a fair amount of shumpert over the last three years... and listen to this guy... he knows what hes talking about...vadimivich wrote:Shumpert is already a fine spot up shooter. It's when he has to shoot off the dribble or create a jump shot for himself that he struggles - and at GT he was asked to do that a lot. He's a lot better shooter than people here seem to believe, he took a TON of bad shots at GT in that offense that really hurt his percentages.
IF this is true, then offensively he'll be the abolute perfect fit for our team. And defensively he'll obviously help. Lets see what happens when he gets into the game.
Our team is nothing but bad shots!
Every once in a while we have a game where we're hitting 3pters (Shumpert's biggest weakness) and those are the ones where he will be hitting his set shots.
I like the pick and I love defense which he brings but I am dreading the moments when Melo is just jacking up shots and Amare is disinterested and we have to find that next offensive option.
The cupboard is bare as far as pure talent on this team. Landry Fields is actually a much better offensive player than Shumpert, and he's only lacking more control of his handle.
Let's not knock or overhype Shumpert too much! He's a good pick but a very up/down player.
