silas will play the two of them together at times next year. there is no doubt in my mind about that. the question is more likely, how long will they play together and at what points during the game. i am sure there might even be times that we see both of them on the floor in the last 6 minutes of the 4th quarter in a close game, depending on matchups. a lot of teams go small at the end of games.
if dj can give us 30 minutes a night and kemba can give us 25 minutes a night, obviously that leaves 7 minutes where they play together. i think that would be a decent distribution of minutes.
i do not think kemba will beat out dj for the starting job next year. i think the only way kemba starts is if dj gets traded.
if we have to choose between one or the other in crunch time it will most likely be the "hot hand". silas is not like LB. he is not opposed to playing his bench at the end of games over his starters. kemba is most likely going to be a better defender and a better iso scorer so those skills will translate better to end of game situations. but certainly dj's experience and better 3pt shooting and better ft shooting will earn him minutes late as well.
its a good problem for a coach to have, as long as both players push each other in a positive manner and not in a manner where one starts sulking or glory hunting.
i trust silas will be able to keep both players mentally in the right frame of mind. thats what he does well.
