Players can pick up their pivot, jump off their other foot, then release the ball. It's 100% legal. It's how most running shots are executed.
I agree with this 100% its like a floater in the lane. What I cant get passed is there is a clear distinction of when you can take those steps and when you cannot to me is blurred. Theres so many different ways to call travel. For instance if I receive a pass, and my pivot lifts before the ball hits the ground its traveling. The pivot foot doesnt even have to come back down. Here's the problem im having. The play below is excuted to perfection per the rule.

He does his spin move, jumps, and before he lands per the rule he has to either shoot or pass. he does that in that video.
In the OP's video he does all those things but before he shoots or passes he steps with the right foot. Clearly those are two different plays. Im not sure Im ready to say, well his pivot never came back down so it was ok. Thats kinda throwing everything under one big umbrella. Im not even arguing the pivot coming off the ground, Im arguing that after the pivot comes off the ground, and he takes the other step.....whats the meaning of that step. I think some people are saying well thats 1 of the 2 steps he gets like when he's going for a layup. Im not sure the allowed 2 step layup is applied here. Just like you cant catch a pass, take two steps then dribble. But maybe it is as simple as his pivot never came back down so he can do whatever the hell he wants.
Pretty sure he does the exact same move here as in the OP's vid. Same footwork, at least.
