We amnesty Childress at 6 mil. and allow the suns to eat Warrick at 4 mil. Take on Frye at over 5 and allow him to play the back up floor spacing shooter role that barge was destined for with Ed and Val here. Bargs gets to play next to Gortat and form a varied and about prime (27 ish) frontline for the suns. I think the suns do this just based on talent upgrade and not wasting Nash's and hill's last year.
Mainly I think this gives us a modest shot at a high pick next year when the suns might be decent (fringe playoff team) or could really implode, lose Nash and hills effectiveness and be one of the worst teams in the league. It also gives us two chances in the lottery in 2013 when the suns will surely suck.
A few months ago I was on the Phoenix Trade board and they're not high on Bargnani at all. I say that because from understanding, they'd be sending out their first (unprotected) for him which is insane seeing as they're on the verge of a rebuild and will like to hold on to all the picks they can possibly get.
However...maybe they'd be interested if we take on Childress. Problem with that now is apparently when/if the CBA is completed, amnestying people who were obtained in trades after the CBA will not be allowed. In other words, they'd have to be under contract and on YOUR roster prior to the expiration of the last deal.
I proposed this in their board and on here I believe too but I think a deal of:
Pietrus + Lopez + PHX 1st (lotto protected in 2012, top 10 in 2013 etc) for Bargnani
Is fair for both teams. That's not a beautiful package we get in return but it provides us with an able bodied, vet SF and a young C that could take a bench role for us in the future and provides us with a pick to fill out the core somewhere down the road if necessary or to be used in trades or something. If we could get a pick that's available sooner that would be great but I doubt it given where PHX is right now. And we're getting PHX to take on a fair bit of salary as well so I think that's more or less fair.
