Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix is the premier championship of motorcycle road racing currently divided into three distinct classes: 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP. The 125cc class uses a two-stroke engine while Moto2 and MotoGP use four-stroke engines.

Discuss it here.

Congrats to Casey Stoner the 2011 MotoGP World Champion.

Was one of the most exciting seasons of recent times, but ultimately had a very sad ending with the tragic death of Marco Simoncelli. He was a super exciting rider and rode closer to the edge than the rest of the guys, he made every race interesting with his aggressiveness and had his best MotoGP result in his last race at Phillip Island. RIP Marco.

2012 should be a good contest between Stoner and Lorenzo again, and Spies certainly has the talent to be up there at the end.

Speaking of Casey Stoner, he's pissed off about something apparently..

Australian MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has threatened to quit MotoGP if the category decides to change regulations to make bikes more like standard road-going machines.

Just days after taking victory in the final race of the season in Valencia, Stoner warned that if MotoGP moved towards making the entire field run with the lower specifications, he would consider leaving the sport.

From a very quick read of a couple of articles it seems that "make some bikes more like standard road-going machines" is what is quite likely however "making the entire field run with the lower specifications" is not.

I think he could live with extra bikes as long as they don't compromise on the standards of the full factory teams, and I'd guess most riders would feel the same.

Anyway, I don't know much about bikes, just enjoy the races (both MotoGP and Superbikes). Don't even ride them myself, think I just like them having grown up down Phillip Island way and going to see them a few times. My biker mates are always on about it too, and love both types of races due to how different they are, it sounds like these proposed changes will make them more similar which is probably not for the best.

Casey does seem to generate debate whenever he talks, just based on the comments from that article he's done it again.
